The Experience
Discover the rolling green slopes that you can view from the hacienda on this hike that boasts incredible views in all directions. Arrive at the traditional Costa Rican home of Ivan, where you will encounter goats, ducks, cows and chicken in his free range style farm. Begin your hike through the open fields and up to the ridge, reaching an altitude of 1,300 meters, climbing 300 meters over nearly two hours. This ridge provides scenic vistas – including panoramics of Fila Brunqueña, San Isidro, the hacienda, Cedral and the mighty Talamanca Mountains. Enjoy a welcomed pause to indulge in classic Costa Rican fare and rebuild your energy as you admire the avian species that fly overhead. Your descent back to Ivan’s takes approximately an hour, finishing the loop as you reach your awaiting car.
- Depart the hacienda by car, 20 minutes into the hills of Los Vegas
- The entire journey is about 5 kilometers with steep uphill and downhill ascents and descents
- Due to the exposure with few trees and shaded areas, we recommend starting the hike early to avoid the heat of the day
- Suggested for guests aged 12 and above due to the length of the hike
