Its concept and design will reverberate with the story of an iconic building of one of the visionary families of the American story. Ideally situated in Union Square, the historic structure will define the next generation of great city hotels, and serve as a dynamic social hub for the city.

An Iconic Building is Reborn

Timeless Style

The Hearst Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection will continue the incredible story of this iconic building by tapping into Hearst's visionary sense of life and style. The Hotel will create a unique blend of tradition and innovation that will redefine San Francisco luxury by bringing together a stirring sense of glamour and panache with the tasteful sophistication for which Auberge is renowned. Ideally situated at the intersection of Market Street and Third Street in the heart of the city, The Hearst Hotel will captivate travelers and locals alike with its newfound vibrancy and contemporary hospitality when it opens in 2023.

The Hearst Building, originally built in 1898 and home to the San Francisco Examiner until the 1960s, was the center of making and recording the news of the day.

Steeped in incredible history, the Spanish Revival-style building reflects the elegance of a time gone by with Tennessee Pink marble on the lower floors, and a terra cotta façade reaching to the roof parapet. Architect Julia Morgan’s famed entryway, with its ornate bronze medallions and signature crest, remains as inspiring today as ever.

Come drink, dine and be inspired at the confluence of where Old Media and New Media meet to create a dynamic gathering place. Following an extensive interior renovation and redesign, the 13-story landmarked building will open as The Hearst Hotel, complete with an Auberge Spa, grand lobby, social spaces, glittering rooftop bar and destination restaurant.
