Join artist and leatherworker Scott Michael Horn in a fast-paced jaunt through the basics of turning a simple piece of cowhide into a piece of Art. Each participant will walk away having created something unique, turning a raw piece of saddle leather into a functional and beautiful item that will last for years. Scott's passion for the craft of leatherwork is brought to life with a high-energy interactive teaching style. Technique is mixed with anecdotes about the history, production, and process of crafting saddle leather. The workshop is centered on creative expression, teaching not only the craft skills but the concepts of how to design your own unique patterns. Scott will demo basic techniques and concepts then set everyone free to follow their whim to create 2 to 3 of their own handmade pieces tooled and dyed right there.
