This rafting excursion is the perfect trip for everyone in the entire family – and it also affords us time to practice paddling techniques, swimming and simply enjoying the Rio Grande. Toward the end of the trip, we will float through the historic village of Pilar before continuing through some fun Class 2 rapids and on to our take-out.

Your journey begins at The Stables with experienced wranglers and gentle horses. Embark on a ride with your trusty steed traversing the mountainside and enjoy the beautiful natural sceneries of Santa Fe. Guests can book private excursions with advanced notice. Guests are asked to arrive at the Stables for their excursion 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time to fill out waivers and meet the horses.

Join artist Dawn Chandler in a joyful exploration of color via collage – the art of arranging and gluing cut papers. With a trove of beautifully colored papers hand-painted for you by Dawn, we will explore creative exercises designed to expand and enrich your color awareness, with a particular emphasis on the rich palette of New Mexico. All materials provided, including a gorgeous packet of collage materials for you to take home. All levels welcome; no prior art-making experience necessary.

The Rail Trail bike ride is perfect for families with younger children. Starting just south of Santa Fe, this bike trail follows the historic rail spur to the town of Lamy, an 18-mile spur that opened in February 1880 and connected Santa Fe to the AT&SF’s (now Amtrak) Chicago to Los Angeles cross-country route. The Rail Trail offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains – the Sangre de Cristo, the Sandias and the Jemez Mountains. We love this trail year-round; however, it is particularly lovely in the autumn when the asters and sunflowers are in bloom.

From large rivers to high mountain spring creeks and lakes, various types of waters make northern New Mexico an excellent year-round destination for fly fishing, and for fishers of all ages. The rhythm of the casting, the sound of the water and the breathtaking landscape create a moment of serenity that juxtaposes the adrenaline of the first bite.

We’ve designed custom ski packages for the bold and spirited travelers. Choose your adventure, from heli-trips on Taos Mountain to keeping it local on Santa Fe Mountain. Retreat to the slopes for the day, whether you plan to ski as a family or enroll the kids in an age-appropriate lesson. Then, gather for an après experience back at Bishop's Lodge complete with winter warmer cocktails and decadent s'mores.

Surround yourself with the magic of Santa Fe at the heart of Bishop's Lodge. The Lodge House features two bedrooms with ensuites, plus seating areas that create a separate retreat for family members or couples to relax. Once the kids are in bed, reconvene by the wet bar for a nightcap.

Settle in to the Casita Residence located near our trout stream, with views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. The expansive first floor layout includes a living area, dining room and kitchen, as well as the king master bedroom and ensuite. The second floor leads to two bedrooms, one king bed and the second bedroom with two queen beds. Relax on your private terrace or inside by the kiva fireplaces, or explore the resort. The Lodge is just a five-minute walk away.

The Bunkhouse is a unique venue ideal for larger parties looking for accommodations that include a common space for social gathering, yet the privacy of an individual guest room for each couple or family. Within the Bunkhouse, there are a total of 12 guest rooms, 6 of which are situated on the ground floor, and 6 on the 2nd floor, accessible by staircase. Multi-generational families can set out on individual adventures and reconvene for a private meal or stories by the fire each night.
