Introducing Auberge Insiders
"When planning a trip to the natural paradise of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Primland, Auberge Resorts Collection, is a must stay," says Riley Sheehey, a watercolor and multimedia artist based in Falls Church, Virginia. "When we arrive on-property, we are always met with a warm southern welcome complete with a glass of wine for me and a whiskey for my husband."

Day 1
Morning | Hike the Blue Ridge Mountains
“I love hiking, but don’t get a chance to do it often anymore with a 3-year-old at home, so my travels to Primland are such a treat given the many trails they offer,” Riley says. “My favorite trail is Buzzard’s Roost, which offers great views of the mountains as well as the golf course along with a lot of little footbridges and creeks along the way.”
Afternoon | Cocktails at Laurel Bar
Have a drink at the new Laurel Bar with a beautiful outdoor terrace that makes an incredible backdrop for a cocktail by the firepit.
Evening | Southern Supper at Stables Saloon
Located in the property’s former horse stables, the resort’s more casual dining spot offers family style Southern barbecue – think buttermilk fried chicken, honey pork ribs, mac and cheese – and live bluegrass music!
Day 2
Morning | Explore Meadows of Dan
The High Country Lavender Farm is a breathtaking nearby spot to explore – especially during prime lavender season, when you can appreciate the natural beauty and aromas and pick up some homemade lavender products. Nancy’s Candy, a nearby fudge shop whose products they stock in the rooms, is another local gem. YTake a tour and try some samples that will surely satisfy any sweet tooth.
Afternoon | Auberge Spa at Primland
“I suggest the Signature Facial – it makes your skin truly glow. Golden hour is a perfect time to enjoy the spa after a day filled with adventures. I highly recommend grabbing a glass of champagne after your treatment while relaxing in the lounge area.”
Evening | Dinner at Leatherflower
For dinner, Leatherflower, the property’s signature restaurant, is a must visit. Highlights included the beet and burrata appetizer and the chocolate custard dessert.
Day 3
Morning | Antique Shopping
“Jerry & Connie’s House of Collectibles is my ideal kind of vintage shop because, while fairly rustic, there is a ton to sort through,” Riley says. “There are other antique shops nearby and many along the drive down from northern Virginia, providing several great options along the Blue Ridge Parkway to explore every time we visit Primland!”
Afternoon | Gather in the Great Hall
“I always love an old fashioned, and Primland’s Southern Old Fashioned is my favorite! Order a cocktail and enjoy it in the Great Hall, which has an incredible mountain view and cozy fireplaces. It is the perfect spot for a pre- or post-dinner drink.”
Evening | Fireside S’mores
During the summer months, a must-do is roasting marshmallows over the firepits on the terrace with the hotel’s complimentary s’mores kits. It’s a classic treat to go with a post-dinner pour.
