Mountaineers in Training
Over the course of a day, gain a few of the skills that have enabled humankind to live in the mountains for centuries.
- 10 am - Learn to hit a target with a bow and arrow or an air rifle
- 1 pm - Hike along the Pinnacle Overlook trail with our naturalist, learning the flora and fauna along the way
- 9:30 pm - Embark on a stargazing journey through the cosmos
For kids eager to fish, this two-session program shows them the ropes.

- 2 pm - Create your favorite fly patterns

Blue Ridge 2 Queens Suite | The Lodge
Located in the Lodge and boasting some of the property’s finest views, the Blue Ridge Suites feature separate living and dining areas showcase the same smoky palette as the bedroom, with wood and stone touches referencing the mountains all around. The master bathroom features imported European glass mosaic tiles and the clean lines of Dornbracht fittings, and some suites feature a separate powder room. Down duvets, plush robes and slippers, BVLGARI bath products, and custom-designed Frette sheets satisfy the senses on every level.
Primat Suite | The Lodge
The ultimate in luxury lodging, the two-story Primat Suite offers 1,800 square feet of tranquil space in the Lodge’s Observatory Tower, directly below Primland observatory. The king-size bed with custom Frette linen is situated on the upper level, while the suite’s generous living room is on the lower level, connected via a custom-designed spiral staircase. The master bathroom and separate powder room feature imported European glass mosaic tiles and the clean lines of Dornbracht fittings. Down duvets, plush robes and slippers, and BVLGARI bath products are finishing touches.
Four gracious, chalet-like cottages each offer accommodation for up to 12 people with birds-eye views of the valley below. While charming, these generously-proportioned, two-story abodes are stylish eyries with serene interiors and space to spare. Each cottage boasts two inviting living areas arranged around open stone fireplaces (one on each level), two large Dan River Suites opening onto expansive private decks, and two Cedar Bluff Rooms with their own private balconies. Book an entire cottage to keep your group together during your stay. Accessible rooms are available.
Located along the golf course with stunning jade and sapphire-hued mountain views, three unique cottages each offer hardwood floors, cathedral ceilings and cozy living areas with Tennessee fieldstone fireplaces. Wooden decks are ideal for alfresco dining, while spacious apartments are offered in east and west wings - catching the light at sunrise and sunset respectively. Each cottage boasts a unique layout, with Sparrow and Woodpecker accommodating four guests and Cardinal up to eight. Book both wings to keep small groups or families together.

Our world-class dining team takes great pride and care in crafting its kids’ menus, incorporating extraordinary ingredients from local producers as well as just-harvested vegetables from our on-site garden. We can also work with you to accommodate allergies, sensitivities—or the particularly finicky palate.
Instead of a general approach, our Outdoor Activity Center provides activities tailored for younger travelers who want to learn the basics of golf, fly fishing and wilderness survival - skills that may spark lifelong hobbies.
