Recipe: Churros

A Mexican classic!

  • 3 cups Flour

  • 2 1/2 cups Water

  • 1/2 tbsp Salt

  • 4 tbsp Sugar

  • 3 oz Sugar

  • 3 oz Butter

  • 3 Eggs

  • 2 quarts Frying oil

  • 1/2 cup Sugar

  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon (optional)

Method: Mix the water, sugar, salt, and butter in a saucepan and bring it to a rolling boil. Reduce heat to low and add the flour. Stir constantly until the dough is compact and stretchy. Remove from heat and allow to cool for several minutes. After cooling, add one egg and stir well until combined, continue with the rest of the eggs one at the time. You may use a mixer or a spatula. Transfer dough to a piping bag with a large star tip and pipe it in long straight lines. Let them chill in the freezer for a couple of minutes, then cut and fry in hot oil (350 F) until golden brown. Once cooked, transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and allow to cool for one minute. Roll them in white sugar or a mix of sugar and cinnamon. Enjoy!
