Celebrate the Start of Summer

Kick off Memorial Day Weekend and delight in the beginning of warmer months at The Vanderbilt with family and friends.

  • Friday, May 24th - Monday, May 27th

Discover the Roof Deck

Bask in the warm New England sun and feel the social Newport buzz this Memorial Day Weekend. We look forward to welcoming guests to The Roof Deck at our downtown mansion, where sunsets, libations, and the convivial spirit of our social hub are in...

Indulge in the Vanderbilt Picnic

Enjoy a homemade spread prepared by our expert chefs to bring with you on your adventures around Newport, whether it's along your next sailing excursion, classic car ride or Cliff Walk. Indulge in the flavors of the coast as embark on quintessential New England excursions and explore the wonders of Newport.

Take in dramatic views from the Cliff Walk

Savor Newport’s natural and historical beauty by wandering the Cliff Walk along the eastern shore. (The walk offers better views of some of the estates than can be seen from the road.) The full 3.5-mile walk starts at the western end of Easton’s or First Beach at Memorial Boulevard, and ends at Bellevue Avenue at the east end of Bailey’s Beach.

Private Oyster Farm Tour

Immerse yourself in Rhode Island’s iconic export as you spend the day with the experts at West Passage Oysters. Journey to Wickford Town Dock and learn from West Passage’s team about the history of half shells in Rhode Island, an oyster’s life cycle, and how shellfish are farmed in Newport’s Narragansett Bay.

The Green Hour

Step into the Parlour and be transported to the era when artists and poets drank absinthe, the spirit whose mystery and allure remains to this day. Our Hidden Bar in the Parlour has been imagined as Lady Elsie Vanderbilt’s secret entertaining closet, in which she kept her treasured brass objects, menagerie and her favorite vice: absinthe.

Set Sail on America's Cup Winner

Set sail on the coast of Newport and adventure through the stunning Narragansett Bay on one of the winning America’s Cup sailboats for a private charter experience or public sail. Learn all about the art of sailing on the meticulously restored America’s Cup sailboats, whether it's the 1962 winner, The Weatherly, the two-time winner the Intrepid, or the Cup contender Heritage – trim the sails, work the grinding winches, tail, and even take the helm of a winning boat.

Sailor's Tea Hour

Head to the sun-dappled Conservatory for an exciting coastal take on afternoon tea. Take in the hotel’s lush gardens from classic rattan armchairs within gleaming glass walls while sipping a selection of delicious teas. Enjoy a light bites menu of savory and sweet selections and add a bespoke cocktail to your experience, dreamed up by our expert Cocktail Curators.
