Reese Witherspoon raved on a recent Instagram post detailing her three-day escape to Hacienda AltaGracia.“I love Costa Rica so much. I had the best time,” said the Oscar Award-winning actress and producer. Below, Witherspoon shares an insider’s peek from her rejuvenating stay deep in the Pérez Zeledón highlands.
“This hotel was incredible,” Witherspoon said, as she panned her video lens over a private plunge pool on a bougainvillea-draped terrace. With just 50 casitas surrounded by 180 acres of bird-song-filled tropical forest, Hacienda AltaGracia was created to feel like staying at a friend’s expansive estate.
Prepared with freshly roasted beans sourced from a small, but renowned Pérez Zeledón cooperative, “the coffee was delicious,” Witherspoon shared. Guests of the resort can follow the journey of one of the country’s most famous crops from bean to cup with a tour of the farm and roasting facilities high up in the hills of Cedral.
“We went hiking every single day on these beautiful suspension bridges,” Witherspoon said. focusing her angle over fast-rushing river rapids. A short uphill hike and 20-minute downhill walk from Hacienda AltaGracia will lead guests to an incredible sight: the first in a series of small waterfalls and natural plunge pools. “We went swimming in the river which was so fun,” the actress exclaimed.
“We went to the spa which was relaxing and luxurious and so serene,” Witherspoon shared of THE WELL at Hacienda AltaGracia, a 20,000 square-foot wellness escape that invites guests to reset and rewind with an integrated holistic approach. Signature treatments include Maderoterapia (Wood Therapy), a Central American massage technique that uses wooden tools.
“The food? Did I mention? It was delicious,” said Witherspoon. “In the final night, we had this beautiful dinner, and it was just glorious.”All stays include daily meals prepared with produce from organic chef’s gardens around the estate, with dishes deeply rooted in Costa Rican culinary rituals and a deep connection with the land.
