Three-Course Temaki Dinner Experience | Francis H. I’i Brown Suite

The aromas of Kona Kampachi and ocean air fill the expansive living area of the Francis H. I’i Brown Suite, a gathering space conducive to immersive and fulfilling experiences. Sip on a matcharita – a signature cocktail by Nami Nori – and connect with fellow culinary enthusiasts as the pink and orange hues of the sunset are gradually replaced by a sky full of twinkling stars. Venture onto the expansive lanai to experience a three-course Temaki dinner featuring Japanese dishes crafted with ingredients sourced from the Island of Hawai’i.

Nami Nori On-the-Go | The Surf Shack

The acoustic hum of ukuleles and the soothing sounds of ocean waves provide unmatched ambience for an afternoon snack shared with loved ones. After you’ve wrapped up an outrigger canoe excursion with our Kainalu Pros, venture to the Surf Shack and pick up a Temaki Kit, featuring fresh ingredients such as Kona Kampachi and lilikoi ponzu. Laze the day away on the effervescent Great Lawn, or kick back and relax at the Surf Shack as you savor signature hand rolls packaged for takeaway. Shoes are optional; appetite is recommended.

Temaki Cooking Class | Francis H. I’i Brown Suite

A dish which is often reserved for large parties and celebrations, temaki – meaning “hand rolled” – is traditionally made at home and eaten by hand. Unearth a home away from home in Mauna Lani’s Francis H. I’i Brown Suite, where Nami Nori’s Chef Partner, Taka Sakaeda, will lead an interactive and experiential temaki cooking class. Absorb the traditions of temaki, practice the fundamentals of sushi-making and savor your creations as the golden sun dips below the horizon. No chopsticks necessary!
