Amanu at Auberge Resorts

Design and customize your own sandals.

Amanu celebrates the ancient craft of sandal making the old fashioned way, on guests feet in around 45 minutes. Allowing our guests to design and customize their very own pair. Using materials from the finest Italian factories and techniques that have been passed down for generations, the skilled makers will build sandals around the intimate details that make your feet, yours. Since each item is cut to order it's also a more sustainable way to shop. You select the materials to create the sandal, then literally walk away wearing a one-of-a-kind pair.

About Amanu

AMANU believes in the pursuit of less by embracing the tactile and the timeless. Founded by celebrity stylist Anita Patrickson in April 2018, the brand creates one of a kind, made by hand, sandals designed with a resourceful reverence for the past, the earth, and the preservation of tradition. Materials are cut for each individual pair, making for a more sustainable model with no finished inventory. AMANU sandals have been spotted on celebrities such as Salma Hayek, Julianne Hough, Eiza Gonzalez and been featured in publications such as Vogue, GOOP, Elle, The Los Angeles Times and more.

Blue Sky How I Became a Horse Thief

I'm Barbara Phillips, the horse thief. In 2013, I stole a mistreated horse from a very neglectful ranch and later named her Gracie. After hearing about the horrific abuse on the local news, I immediately got involved. The situation was grim. Only through police escort was I allowed to help any of the 140 horses involved. While helping with medical treatments, I spotted Gracie who had an infected, untreated wound. I convinced the officers to trailer Gracie to the veterinary hospital and I took financial responsibility for her. Several visits later, I loaded her in my trailer and took her to an undisclosed location.

Chileno Bay Don’t Miss these Highlights from our Art Collection

As you walk to Chileno Bay’s front desk, you will be greeted by a monumental steel sculpture by Sante Fe, New Mexico-based artist Will Clift—your first sign that art will surround you at seemingly every turn here. Enjoy a wide range of pieces from dozens of artists based right here in Los Cabos, elsewhere in Mexico, and across the U.S., showcased in the resort’s public spaces as well as in each guestroom, suite or villa. No two pieces are alike, though common themes of seascapes, desert landscapes, and natural elements abound.

Malliouhana Looking for Luck on the Horizon

Sailing away from Anguilla on a hand-crafted sailboat, we headed out to explore the small cays that dot the horizon. Looking for dolphins on the way became a game for the kids and us. The first stop brought us to a small sandy beach with nothing but the stunning turquoise water to look at. We swam and relaxed here listening to the stories of our captain about growing up in Anguilla. He tells the kids of the caves he explored as a child, and the kids are enthralled. Not long after, we are off again to explore the caves located on the eastern end of Anguilla.

Esperanza The Secret Life of Sea Turtles

There are seven sea turtle species in the world, and Baja California Sur is home to a remarkable five of them—the hawksbill, loggerhead, leatherback, black turtle and olive ridley—all of which are endangered. These amazing sea creatures can hold their breath for up to seven hours at a time, slow their heartbeat to once every nine minutes, and most can dive to depths of up to 960 ft. (or nearly 100 stories underwater). But there’s another trait that’s even more astonishing, and the reason we give each of our guests a wooden sea turtle when they leave.
