Family Holiday Experiences
Embark on a family fox hunt with your family, honoring the traditional Christmas past time in 18th century America. We invite guests to find The Vanderbilt stuffed fox that is hidden amongst our historic Gilded Age mansion to receive a gift from our antique wooden treasure box.
We invite all guests to pen a letter to Father Christmas and deposit it in our antique treasure box and celebrate the holiday season with The Vanderbilt team.
Tuesday, December 23rd
3:00 – 4:00pm | Hot Ale Flips — Head to the Dining Room and discover the Colonial-era cocktail, a Hot Ale Flip, made with ale, rum and molasses that was typically prepared by first brewing the drink over the fire, frothing it between mugs and then warming it with a mulling iron or a “loggerhead.” Watch as our bartenders revive this tradition and experience the tradition of warming and “flipping” the cocktail by our fireplace as a hearty cocktail to greet the festive season.
All Afternoon | Classic Car Tour: Deck the Halls Mansion Tour— Embark on a one-of-a-kind adventure with Newport Classic Cars for an unforgettable classic car tour and take in all the festive wonders of Newport. Explore the festive cheer of our historic town and the curated holiday decor on Bellevue from the seat of a classic 1920s car. Marvel at the twinkling lights at dusk and listen as your guide shares the rich history of Newport.

12:00 – 2:00pm | Father Christmas in the Mansion — We invite all guests of The Vanderbilt to meet Father Christmas. Sip on soul-warming beverages while celebrating the Christmas cheer with Father Christmas and enjoy family portraits with our special guest.

5:30 – 10:30PM | Christmas Eve Supper – Join us for Vanderbilt’s convivial celebration of the festive season. We invite you and your families to gather around the table in the hotel’s handsome fireplace-adorned Dining Room to indulge in a comforting, hearty Christmas Eve supper and Sunday Roast. With a menu featuring tender roast beef, crispy potatoes, roasted carrots, buttery cabbage, and perfectly puffy Yorkshire pudding, the experience will nourish the spirits of visitors to the Mansion.
5:30 – 8:30pm | Enjoy Live Christmas Tunes — Head into the Library and listen to classic Christmas tunes performed live, as you enjoy your Christmas Eve with loved ones.

1:00 – 2:00pm | Festive Lobster Cookie Decorating — Gather for a festive cookie decorating experience and craft your own festive lobster cookies with expert guidance and unique toppings. Take home a box of your creations, capturing the taste of the holiday season. This hands-on journey through local flavors and traditions leaves you with skills to make these delightful treats anytime.
