Tall, flighted birds are flushed towards the gun line as loaders and dog handlers dressed in proper shooting attire assist you at each drive. Properly attired shooters will be paired with loaders to assist with single gun or gun pairs. Field slips are needed and can be provided by Primland. Side-by-side and over/under shotguns are the tradition in this sport but autoloaders are allowed as long as only two cartridges are loaded at a time.

Ammunition is limited to #5 fine shot or smaller and can be purchased on site. Safe and courteous shooting is key. While shooters may share pegs and load for each other, a Primland loader will also be assigned due to safety concerns. Price is based on gun line size and release or daily bag will be subject to gun line size, if less than 10 gunners. Lodging, licenses and ammunition is not included.

Wild turkey hunting at Primland is a challenging and exhilarating experience. This is true fair chase hunting at its best, with no guarantee of success. The gobblers typically make their homes in the most rugged areas of the Blue Ridge, so it’s important to accurately gauge your ability to hike physically taxing terrain while engaging in spring turkey hunting. As turkeys see color and are sensitive to any movement, full camouflage including face and gun is a prerequisite before you can begin tracking Primland’s most elusive bird. Our Virginia turkey hunting is a guided activity offered only during a state-regulated hunting season, which generally runs from mid-April through mid-May.
