    Festive holiday cocktails: Auberge Resorts toasts to the New Year

    Celebratory Libations Showcase Each Resort’s Sense of Place

    MILL VALLEY, CALIF (December 16, 2013)Auberge Resorts, the leading portfolio of boutique luxury hotels and residences worldwide, will toast the holidays with an assortment of festive libations that showcase the tastes of each resort’s destination. The company, which got its start in the famed wine region of Napa Valley, has always made unique beverage programs a priority in addition to award-winning wine lists. The creative minds behind the bars at Auberge Resorts have shared their favorite libations to celebrate the holiday season.


    Esperanza Resort suggests their Cabo Green Margarita (silver tequila, pineapple juice, cucumber, agave honey, cilantro, lime), the Mojito Diablo (rum, cassis, lime, mint, raw sugar) or the Illusion Margarita (rested tequila, basil, cranberry juice, cassis), to celebrate the holidays.

    “If you can’t be in Cabo San Lucas to toast the New Year with us, you can’t go wrong serving tequila at a New Year’s Eve party,” said Diego Weiss, Director of Food & Beverage at Esperanza.


    Solage Calistoga’s Sommelier & Beverage Manager, Scott Turnbull, created the newly added libation, Five O’Clock Shadow, noting, “The pomegranate vodka adds a seasonal, festive kick to holiday cocktail parties.” To make a Five O’Clock Shadow, mix Charbay pomegranate vodka, honey rosemary syrup, bitters, and egg whites.

    The Soleil Rey is a crowd-pleaser at Auberge du Soleil, made with Charbay Pomegranate Vodka, Unoaked Sauvignon Blanc, aperol, simple syrup, grapes and mint leaves. “’For me, this cocktail is the essential Napa Valley cocktail.  It is light and refreshing and brings the elements of grapes to the glass. It represents the warm colors of autumn and is the perfect accompaniment for a brisk fall day,” said Kris Margerum, Wine Director.

    Calistoga Ranch’s private label Cabernet is a crowd favorite, and pairs well with a variety of foods, from salads, to chicken, to red meat,” says the property’s resident winemaker, Kirk Venge. “For dessert, we love to pair the 2009 Robert Pecota Moscato D’Andrea with decadent sweets such as sorbets and ice creams,” says Christian Ojeda, Executive Chef at Calistoga Ranch.

    Auberge Resorts again honored with Green Spa Network’s Sustainability Award

    Auberge Recognized for Second Consecutive Year for Leadership in Corporate Sustainability

    MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (November 7, 2013)  – Auberge Resorts Collection has been honored by Green Spa Network with the award for Sustainable Corporate Spa of the Year. The award recognizes Auberge Resorts for the company’s pioneering programs, leadership and ongoing commitment to sustainability at its resorts throughout North America. The awards were announced at the Green Spas Network’s annual congress, held recently in Colorado.

    Green Spa Network Sustainability Awards were launched by Green Spa Network in 2012 to underscore the importance of sustainability leaders in transforming an industry. Criteria for winning included achieving the highest level of sustainability compared to their peers; continuous improvement; setting an example of best practices for the industry to follow; making sustainable practices inviting and desirable to consumers and employees.

    Environmental and social responsibility are inherent elements of the Auberge brand.

    Auberge Resorts recognized as World’s Best in Condé Nast Traveler’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards

    MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (October 16, 2013) – The Auberge Resorts collection has once again been recognized by Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards, one of the most respected honors in the travel industry. Auberge du Soleil, Calistoga Ranch, Solage Calistoga, Hotel Jerome and Esperanza were ranked among the best hotels and resorts in the world in the 26th annual poll, showcased in the upcoming November 2013 issue of Condé Nast Traveler.

    Readers ranked Auberge Resorts’ flagship Napa Valley property, Auberge du Soleil, No. 1 “Best Hotel in Northern California”, No. 6 of the “Top 10 Hotels & Resorts in the United States” and No. 33 on the “World’s Best” list.

    Napa Valley’s Solage Calistoga earned the No. 3 spot on the “Top 15 Resorts in Northern California,” while sister property Calistoga Ranch, also in Napa Valley, ranked 9th on the same list. Esperanza in Cabo San Lucas placed No. 2 in the “Top 10 Resorts in Baja” and earned No. 51 “Top 100 Hotels & Resorts in the World.” Auberge’s newest property in its portfolio is Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colo., which ranked No. 37 on the “Top 40 Resorts in the West” after reopening in December of 2012 following an extensive design transformation and historic restoration.

    Andrew Harper’s hideaway readers vote Auberge Resorts among their favorite resorts in the world in 2013 reader survey

    MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (September 2013)Auberge Resorts properties are the choice of Andrew Harper’s Hideaway readers, according to the publication’s newly released 2013 Reader Survey, which showcases subscribers’ favorite hotels and resorts worldwide. Five resorts in the Auberge collection were among an elite group of properties recognized as among the very best in their categories.

    The results are based on the annual independent reader survey in which Andrew Harper’s discerning subscribers vote for their favorite hotels and resorts in the categories of Beach, City, U.S. Hideaways, International Hideaways, Food and Wine, Spa, Golf, Safari and Family-Friendly. This year, 136 hotels in 115 destinations appear on the lists, which are featured in the September digital edition of Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report.

    Auberge’s Napa Valley flagship Auberge du Soleil was voted No. 5 on the list of 20 Top U.S. Hideaways. All three Napa Valley resorts, Auberge du Soleil, Calistoga Ranch and Solage Calistoga, were ranked among the Top 20 Food and Wine Resorts worldwide.

    Auberge du Soleil was again honored, as No. 6 among the Top 20 Spa Resorts worldwide. Esperanza, an Auberge Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, was ranked No. 6 among the Top 20 Beach Resorts and No. 6 among the Top 20 Spa Resorts.

    AJ Capital Partners and Auberge Resorts names design dream team for the transformation
    of Anguilla’s Malliouhana Hotel & Spa

    MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (September 2013)Auberge Resorts, the leading portfolio of boutique luxury hotels and residences worldwide, and owner Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners (AJ Capital Partners) today announced plans for its redesign of Malliouhana, an Auberge Resort on the Island of Anguilla, British West Indies. The 55-room hotel, perched atop a panoramic bluff overlooking Meads Bay and Turtle Bay, will undergo a comprehensive revitalization, which is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2014.

    Auberge Resorts has selected interior designer Todd-Avery Lenahan of TAL Studio to lead the redesign of all guest rooms, restaurants and public spaces. Lenahan masterminded the recent top-to-bottom transformation of Hotel Jerome, an Auberge Resort in Aspen, which was completed in December 2012. SB Architects, which counts the recent transformation of Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico among its many award-winning projects, will spearhead the architectural enhancements at the now 30-year-old Malliouhana.

    “TAL Studio and SB Architects were the clear choices for the Malliouhana’s transformation,” said Mark Harmon, CEO, Auberge Resorts. “Both firms have an incredible body of work that speaks to their talent at bringing the spirit of a destination to life. We’re excited about their creative vision for the Malliouhana, whose legacy of gracious hospitality is in a league of its own in the Caribbean.”

    Interior designer Todd-Avery Lenahan cites the photography of Slim Aarons, a chronicler of the rich and celebrated, as a source of inspiration for his re-envisioning of the Malliouhana. His plans call for maximizing the resort’s open-air design to create a relaxed atmosphere infused with exuberant colors, evoking the spirit of Anguilla during the Caribbean’s glamorous heyday of the 1950s and 1960s. His team is resurrecting historic elements of the origins of the island to infuse the design concept with a uniquely Anguillan feel.

    “The Malliouhana is beloved by two generations of guests, so we are doing some storytelling through the design to bring back that energy for the next generation of discerning travelers,” said Lenahan. “We dialed in the spirit of how people in the ‘50s and ‘60s traveled – yachts, fine linens, exotic wonderment – and translated that notion into a very collected and international feel.”

    Original paintings of animated tropical scenes that have withstood the test of time in the hotel’s lobby captured the interest of Lenahan and his team. Commissioned for the original Malliouhana, the pieces were rediscovered by the designers, who traced their provenance to a noted local artist and are now weaving the images into to the current design theme of each guest room.

    Etched into each guestroom’s polished white floors are three interlocking porpoises, a nod to the symbol on the national flag of Anguilla. Lenahan celebrated the island’s love of exuberant colors as a basis for the guestrooms, which are an encapsulation of an artistic spectrum. Leading galleries on the West Coast were sources for key pieces, which will complement the resort’s collection of restored vintage rattan.

    “We infused spaces with a rich palette – it’s an urbane take of what the Caribbean is,” said Lenahan. “We wanted to create something specific to this island – not just another swanky beach hotel, but something with depth and beauty that is unique to the destination.”

    SB Architects’ structural enhancements to the Malliouhana will visually strengthen the hotel’s connection to the sea by opening up views, replacing formerly limiting architectural forms with new ones and creating engaging new public spaces. These will include a new open-air restaurant and bar, a tiered swimming pool area with a strong connection to the topography, and a sunset bar. The architects are also designing an entirely new spa that will offer an intimate experience that will be consistent with Auberge’s reputation for innovative and exquisite small spa environments.

    The hotel’s signature white buildings, tile roofs, and slender Moorish arches will be incorporated into the new vision. “We’re being respectful of the hotel’s history by not doing too much. We will remove certain architectural elements that formerly stood between guests and the hotel’s spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea,” said Scott Lee, President and Principal, SB Architects. “Now, there will be a more pure connection to the water. We are also enhancing the arrival experience by circulating guests though mature landscape. The connection to land and sea will begin from the moment of arrival.”

    The Malliouhana is set on 20 acres of prime beachfront land that includes two private white-sand beaches. Accommodations range from spacious guest rooms, the smallest of which offers more than 700 square feet of space, to private beachfront villas. Resort amenities will include two restaurants and bars, an Auberge Spa and an extensive array of sports and fitness facilities.

    Auberge Resorts rolls out in-room technology capability

    In-Room iPads Enhance Guest Experience, Optimize Efficiency

    MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (March 4, 2013) – Auberge Resorts announced today that it is integrating iPad guest services at each of its resorts throughout North America. The new in-room technology will allow guests a range of on- and off- property functionalities, complemented by personal detail and attention from resort staff. Guests may pre-order room service, shop for spa products, make dining reservations, schedule wake-up calls, send e-post-cards and much more without ever having to pick up the phone or leave the comfort of their room.

    “We want to provide the most seamless guest experience possible, and living in such a digital world, our decision to move forward with in-room iPads was an easy one,” said Mark Harmon, CEO of Auberge Resorts. “Guests can manage all facets of their stay with the touch of their fingertips and still benefit from the signature Auberge level of service.”

    Auberge Resorts tapped Incentient, a New York based software company, to create a digital extension of the Auberge Resorts service experience to allow guests to perform many actions with one less step.

    “While the hospitality industry has embraced the use of tablet technology on a case-by-case basis, Auberge had much more in mind for their guest on an enterprise level,” said Jennifer Martucci, Co-founder of Incentient. “It was clear to us from day one that they understood their brand, and more importantly, understood their customer. What resulted was a bespoke design that captures the imagination of guests while extending the Auberge experience, which brought the guest to the property in the first place.”

    The platform for the iPads is consistent across all Auberge properties and features categories such as Dining, Auberge Spa, and Events. Additionally, guests may enjoy the benefits of Incentient Smartcellar, an application that allows guests to view the wine and beverage list from each of the resort’s fine dining restaurants. Individual resorts are able to customize messaging and add relevant categories to their particular markets. For example, the in-room iPads at the newly unveiled Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colo. offer information pertaining to mountain sports – ski rentals, snow conditions and maps of hiking trails. The iPads at Calistoga Ranch in Napa Valley allow guests to explore the area’s wineries and vineyards or peruse the property’s real estate offerings. In-room iPads are also proving highly beneficial for groups in house, as messaging can be tailored to communicate selectively to individual guests with meetings and event-related updates.

    “It’s really a win-win for everyone,” said Mark Harmon. “Guests enjoy the privacy and convenience provided by the iPads; they’re able to connect immediately and are given status updates on items such as room service preparation and delivery. On the property level, we’re able to engage with our guests in a way that we’ve never been able to before. We can customize banner messages, alerting guests of daily promotions, and even offer added values like exclusive access with some of our local partners.”

    The company, acclaimed for its sustainability practices, will cut down on in-room dining service menu compendiums and door hangers as well as newspaper delivery for guests who prefer to receive them via the iPad.

    Auberge Resorts earns top rankings in U.S. News & World Report ‘Best Hotels in the USA’ awards

    Four Properties in Auberge Resorts Portfolio Announced as Gold Badge Winners

(January 29, 2013) – Three Auberge Resorts properties have received recognition as among the very best in the country by U.S. News & World ReportAuberge du Soleil, and Calistoga Ranch were named on the exclusive “Best Hotels in the USA for 2013” list, with Calistoga Ranch ranking among the “Top 10 Best in the USA” overall. Calistoga Ranch earned the No. 1 “Best Hotel in California” ranking.
