Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection To Open In Upstate New York In Autumn 2022

Auberge Resorts Collection to open a modern, nature-inspired luxury retreat in the Hudson Valley

MILL VALLEY, Calif. (May 7, 2021)Auberge Resorts Collection, the award-winning portfolio of one-of-a-kind luxury hotels, resorts and residences, has been appointed to manage Wildflower Farms, a new resort nestled on 140 secluded acres in New York’s Hudson Valley. Located just 90 minutes from New York City and set amongst the storied region’s natural beauty, the resort will be a verdant escape focused on nature and wellness in all senses. The expansive grounds will include orchards, animals, heirloom gardens, a namesake farm and fields of wildflowers throughout, offering an oasis within reach for urban visitors with limited access to green space. Upon opening in autumn 2022, Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection will provide a meaningful encounter with nature at every step through nature-framing design, bespoke guesthouses, world-class, source-origin cuisine and unique outdoor experiences.

“We are overjoyed to welcome Wildflower Farms to the Auberge Resorts Collection portfolio and introduce an environmentally conscious luxury resort in the market,” said Dan Friedkin, chairman, Auberge Resorts Collection. “We look forward to partnering with SY Holdings to bring our signature hospitality and experiences to Upstate New York.”

Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection will sit where the Hudson River Valley meets the foothills of the Catskill mountain range, conveniently reached by car from New York and Boston. The area was a place of inspiration for various 19th-century Hudson River School painters and has a strong history of culinary influence. Today, the Hudson Valley is home to countless orchards and farms, distilleries, state parks and destination-worthy art galleries and antique markets. Nearby attractions include the Dia: Beacon, Storm King Art Center, Mohonk Preserve and the Culinary Institute of America.

Sprung from the site where a fallow tree nursery once stood, Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection will be brought to life amid an expansive landscape punctuated by views of Shawangunk Ridge, or ‘The Gunks,’ and a flowing river along the forest’s edge. Working with architects Electric Bowery and designer Ward and Gray, the property achieves the vision of connecting with the land, a modern yet uncompromising design that blurs the line between indoors and outdoors. The resort will feature 65 freestanding light-filled accommodations built in nature and surrounded by stately white pines and native perennials. The free-standing bungalows, cottages and suites will be outfitted with natural materials and amenities including wood-clad ceilings and floors, nubby wool fabrics, cozy window seats, fireplaces, wood decks, private patios and fire pits.

The resort will be a place of exploration and expansion of the spirit and mind. The guest journey will be rooted in evergreen and seasonal activities, from thrilling outdoor adventures to grounding, wild-crafted wellness offerings. The expansive grounds will be home to tennis courts, a pavilion-style open-air gym with a movement studio and miles of dedicated hiking trails. A 9,000-square-foot Auberge Spa will include five single and one couples’ treatment rooms, outdoor hot tubs and an indoor saltwater pool, which will serve as an area for relaxation before or after healing treatments. The resort also offers nearby access to the outstanding beauty of Mohonk Preserve, a private reserve known for hiking, biking and world-class rock climbing.

With a strong connection to the farmland on which the resort sits, the culinary program and experiences will be a central focus at Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection. The destination restaurant will serve as the social heartbeat of the resort, featuring a bar, open kitchen, and farm-based cuisine depicted through unique terroir. Guests will engage with the farmland through hands-on experiences such as foraging, organic vegetable farming, cooking classes and picnics around the property.

Over 15,000 square feet of social space will make Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection a discerning choice for events and celebrations. It will also serve as an ideal and visionary setting for executive meetings, events or retreats.

“Wildflower Farms will reinvent luxury in an understated and experiential way, which makes it a fitting collaboration for Auberge Resorts Collection,” said Craig Reid, President and Chief Executive Officer, Auberge Resorts Collection. “There will be no better place to escape for an abundance of green space, a greater sense of wellbeing and transformative culinary experiences, all just 90 minutes from New York City.”

“Auberge Resorts Collection has a true understanding of what sustainable luxury should look like today,” said Phillip Rapoport, managing partner of SY Holdings. “We are excited to collaborate with the Auberge team who will bring to Wildflower Farms their award-winning personalized service and gifted ability to craft unique experiences that highlight the best of the local area.”
