Management Development Program FAQ | Auberge Resorts Collection
Program Eligibility
Who is eligible for the Management Development Program (MDP)?
To qualify for the MDP, you must have work authorization in the country for which you are applying. In addition, you must either be a current college/university student who will graduate before the program start date or have graduated with a bachelor’s degree within the past two years.
Is the MDP only for hospitality majors?
We prefer that our MDP participants have graduated from an accredited hospitality program and have experience working in the hospitality industry.
For our Culinary and Accounting paths, we require our participants to have the following backgrounds:
- Culinary Path – culinary arts degree or significant experience in the culinary field required
- Finance Path – accounting or finance degree and experience in financial roles required
How many people participate in the MDP each year?
We average around 40 MDPs per program year, which creates a unique and intimate experience for our program participants. With this program size, our MDPs receive mentorship from senior leaders in the Auberge community and we’re able to provide a flexible program that fits their individual passions.
What do you look for in an ideal candidate?
Auberge Resorts is looking for enthusiastic entrepreneurs who embody excellence in everything that they do. We search for future leaders who have a nurturing and respectful spirit, a sense of individuality, a curious mind, and a passion for serving others.
What does the interview process look like?
Candidates are recruited directly from a college/university, promoted from within a property, or recruited externally. Our MDP recruitment team will then set up a conversation to understand the candidate’s unique personality and help guide them to the property that fits their passions and long-term goals. Candidates are typically placed six to eight months prior to the program start date.
Program Structure
What are the program paths, and is my exposure only in that area?
Participants are able to choose a Food & Beverage, Culinary, Rooms, or a Finance focus. Candidates will be asked during the recruitment phase to select their path of focus, as well as their preferred property location. While they will have a dedicated path, their experience is not limited to the path they choose. As part of the 12-month program, they will have operational rotations providing exposure to all areas of the operations. These rotations provide them the opportunity to understand the property as a whole and learn how each department supports the guest and team member experience.
When does the program start?
Candidates are able to choose between the winter program (January/February start) and the summer program (June/July start) for their MDP journey.
How long does it take to complete the program?
The program takes twelve months to complete and concludes with a leadership assessment and program graduation. Following successful completion of the program, you are eligible to either move into a management role (based on availability) at your current property or apply for any available management positions within Auberge Resorts Collection (based on willingness to relocate).
Will the program take place at just one property?
Depending upon the program path, property and seasonality, some MDPs are given the opportunity to gain experience at an additional property. This split program provides a rare opportunity to see the operations of an additional Auberge property and gain a unique operational perspective during the MDP.
Are there remote MDP positions available?
At this time, we do not offer remote positions for the MDP. Due to the nature of hospitality, it’s important that you spend the duration of your program at a property. and receive a hands-on experience.
Is this a global program?
Our program operates at our properties in the US and Mexico. It is important to note that you must have work authorization in the country that you are applying for.

Refer to the program benefits section of this MDP careers page for a full list of benefits available to MDPs.
Is housing/relocation assistance available?

Why would I want to join Auberge Resorts?
From wine country to beachfronts, to mountain escapes, northeastern havens, and urban retreats, Auberge provides MDPs the unique opportunity to be the author of their own stories in our one-of-a-kind properties. As a luxury hospitality management company, our operational structure welcomes the opportunity for MDPs to experience all aspects of the property beyond their selected path.
