Travel + Leisure Readers’ 10 Favorite Resorts in Utah of 2024
Landscape is king in Utah, where readers voted for hotels set at the foot of ski areas and the edge of national parks in our annual “World’s Best Awards” survey for 2024.
Travel + Leisure
Utah has long been known for its diverse landscapes, from an arid desert with red rock formations to a giant saltwater lake to a string of mountains. For that reason, it’s not surprising the state’s best resorts are found on the doorstep of national parks or at the foot of the towering Wasatch Mountains. In Utah, the best resorts have something extra: jaw-dropping locations and experiences that include skiing with an Olympian or dining in a canvas tent set in a high alpine field. Either way, the views are guaranteed to be epic.
How Voting Works
Every year for our World’s Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Over 186,000 T+L readers completed the 2024 survey. A total of more than 700,000 votes were cast across over 8,700 properties (hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).
Hotels were classified as either resort hotel, city hotel, inn, or safari lodge based on their location and amenities, and they were specifically rated on the criteria below:
- Rooms/facilities
- Location
- Service
- Food
- Value
For each characteristic, respondents could choose a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores are averages of these responses.
What Readers Loved
Travelers come to Utah to get close to nature, a fact that is glaringly obvious when you look at the list of winners from the 2024 World’s Best Awards survey. Six of the 10 winners are located in Park City, a mountain community that boasts two ski areas — including the largest in the U.S. — and a dizzying network of summer hiking and biking trails.
One guest of The St. Regis Deer Valley (No. 4) explained, “Why stay anywhere else if you want to ski in Utah? What a joy to look out at the resort that we had just skied to anticipate the following day’s activity. … If you want to feel special and well taken care of with your every need thought of in advance and ski to your heart’s content, you have to stay there!”
Outside of Park City, readers fell in love with the desert vibes of Ulum Moab (No. 3), a summer-only resort that overlooks Canyonlands National Park and is just over 30 minutes from Arches National Park. One reader called out its “spectacular scenery and setting. Excellent food and cocktails. Wonderful service.”
