In Italy, beauty is more than skin deep—it’s a way of life. Just ask Agatha Relota Luczo, founder of Furtuna Skin, the Italian skincare brand that harnesses the wild potency of Sicilian botanicals for its high-performance olive oil-based products. Just as Italians have long believed in the harmony between nourishment, self-care, and the natural world, Furtuna Skin embodies this philosophy, proving that true beauty flourishes when we care for both ourselves and the earth.
What began as her husband’s quest to fulfill a promise to his grandmother—returning to and restoring his family’s farmland amidst the rolling hills of Sicily—transformed into a desire to craft a beauty product centered around olive oil. Determined to bring her vision to life, she set out to create more than just a skincare product—she built a clean beauty brand rooted in purity, performance and the power of nature.
The formula had to be just right, of course. As a double-certified olive oil sommelier, Relota Luczo wouldn’t settle for anything less than the purest, wild-foraged and organically cultivated ingredients for her products. She knew that quality and potency were the foundation of a truly transformative skincare experience. Furtuna Skin embraces a regenerative approach—one that not only replenishes the skin but also nurtures the land through sustainable farming practices. This means sourcing olives from nutrient-rich, untamed Sicilian soil, using sustainable harvesting methods that preserve biodiversity, and employing cold-pressed extraction to retain the highest levels of antioxidants and bioactive compounds. The result? A skincare line where every drop delivers the power of nature at its most potent and one that’s deeply inspired by the land, traditions, and holistic rhythms of Italian life.
From Sicily’s sun-drenched olive groves to the rolling hills of Tuscany, the Italian ethos of wellbeing is rooted in nature, longevity, and the simple pleasures that sustain both body and spirit. It’s this philosophy that united Furtuna Skin and Aelia, an Auberge Spa, the wellness haven at the newly opened storied landmark turned luxury hotel, Collegio alla Querce, in Florence.
“There’s this natural approach to wellbeing that aligns so well with what Agatha is doing,” says Auberge Resorts Collection’s Vice President of Wellbeing Vivianne Garcia-Tunon. At Aelia, time slows, the senses awaken, and the art of wellbeing takes on a deeply personal form. Tucked within the storied walls of Collegio alla Querce, this is not a spa in the traditional sense—there are no communal spaces, no passing strangers wrapped in robes. Instead, the experience is designed around privacy, where each guest steps into their own spa suite, a sanctuary that is entirely theirs for the duration of their visit. More than a treatment room, these spaces are complete with a private restroom, changing area, hot tub, and steam room, allowing for a sense of seclusion that feels rare, almost sacred.
Murals of olive trees stretch across the walls, evoking the silvery groves that blanket the hills beyond Florence, while a towering olive tree—planted at the heart of the spa—acts as both a welcome and a grounding presence. Even the name, Aelia, loosely translates to “the sun,” an ode to the golden light that spills over terracotta rooftops as the city’s artistic soul hums with renewed energy in springtime and the olive trees that thrive beneath it.
Guests can choose from four different experiential categories: From the Garden, From the Grove, From the Vineyard, From the Spirit. Within those pillars they’ll find signature treatments, like the Olive Oil and Tuscan Lemon treatment, a regenerative full-body experience centered around Furtuna Skin’s new Biphase Body Oil (Aelia is the first spa to feature it), paired with Tuscan lemon and herbal exfoliation, or the post-treatment olive oil tastings that feature a custom ingestible olive oil elixir, LXR12—straight from the farm and bottled exclusively by Furtuna Skin for Auberge.
Much like the centuries-old land in Sicily, where the richness of the soil imparts depth and character to every harvest, here, wellbeing is not simply a service, but an experience deeply rooted and enduring, one that lingers long after you leave.
