Best during the summer and fall
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over Mother's Beach prior to your walk through the Monastery. Grab your in-room thermos of coffee or tea along with a freshly baked pastry to fuel your morning walk.
Walk through the Franciscan Monastery directly across the street from the White Barn Inn. Located on 60+ acres of parcel, these beautiful grounds and walking paths are open to the public, providing access to the riverfront in a truly peaceful, even spiritual, setting.
Return to the Inn for blueberry pancakes and coffee blended especially for White Barn Inn.
Drive to Wells Reserve at Laudholm.
Take a hike through Laudholm Farms; 7 miles of trails feature signs to help you find your way, identify plants and animals, understand the natural and cultural history of the site, and explore landscape change. Explore on your own or with a guide, and bring binoculars from the White Barn Inn to easily spot the wildlife.
Eat al fresco at Mabel's Lobster Claw. Don't forego the blueberry pie.
Park at Colony Beach and walk to Parson's Way. This 2 mile jaunt takes you past some of the cooler-named sights on the Maine Coast, Spouting Rock and Blowing Cave. It will also bring you near Walker's Point, the Bush Family retreat.
Return to the White Barn Inn.
Enjoy a White Barn Inn tradition - a poolside lobster bake. It's served family style, so you can try everything. Each week, as our Beacon of Kindness, the White Barn Inn donates a blueberry crumble to a local group. This is offered twice a month so plan accordingly.
Contemplate your day as you enjoy an evening cocktail or s'mores by the fire pit.
Rise and shine for your trip to Doanes Wharf, where Captain Steve will welcome you onboard for a true lobstering experience. With a custom packed breakfast, such as a hot poached egg, lobster sandwich and morning beverage, in hand you will begin the morning on the river and coastal ocean. Spike your coffee or order a bloody mary for some extra sea courage.
On this two to three hour private trip through the coast of Kennebunk and lobster grounds, Captain Steve will teach you everything there is to know about the lobster fishing industry and its sustainable future in Maine.
Once back on dry land, you will be met by White Barn's Executive Chef Matthew Padilla and then meet a local lobsterman on Cape Porpoise where they will select the lobsters from which Chef will prepare you a five-course dinner using everything from antenna to telson.
Ask Chef for a private tour of White Barn's kitchen and wine cellar or private cooking class.
Eat a Maine Beer Company's Lunch, named after a special whale that has been spotted off the Maine coast since 1982. She has what looks like a bite taken out of her fin, which adds to her unique character. If it's raining, enjoy in-room dining followed by a relaxing spa treatment.
Bike to Goochs Beach. Enjoy the beach with the White Barn Beach set up. We will arrange your chair, umbrella and towel in the perfect location.
Keep your eye out for sea glass, especially when walking Middle Beach.
Return to White Barn Inn for a locally crafted cocktail or mocktail.
Delight in our Chef's Five-Course Lobster Dinner.
Relax by the fireplace in the Living Room with post-dinner drinks and games. Find the buzz button to order your next cocktail.
