New Hampshire Oyster Farming

Head out from White Barn Inn and journey 45-minutes South to Scammell Bridge where you will meet locally owned oyster farmers from Choice Oysters to begin your experience. Wade out into the water or paddle by kayak to take a tour of the oyster farm. Learn about the farming process, as well as the oyster's habitats and sustainability as you see seeds brought in from the hatcheries. Get a little dirty as you sort and rake your own oysters to bring back to White Barn Inn. Learn how to shuck oysters taken fresh from the farm as you enjoy a day in New England life. In an effort to sustain oyster populations, White Barn Inn will recycle your oyster shells to the University of New Hampshire's oyster shell program, which uses the shells to restore the local reefs.
