The Memory Maker: Unforgettable Proposals at Napa Valley’s Solage

Solage concierge Jason Wright is an expert at customizing a wedding proposal you’ll always remember

How do you create a wedding proposal so memorable, you’ll be telling the story the rest of your lives? Solage concierge Jason Wright specializes in tailoring personalized engagements to help start your life with that special someone. “We can orchestrate every detail,” Wright says. “We’re not only helping with the proposal, we’re also coordinating an entire experience.”

It might begin with a limo pickup at the airport, to whisk you away to Solage’s idyllic, 22-acre paradise at the northern reaches of the Napa Valley. Say the word and Wright will arrange to have rose petals scattered throughout your luxurious studio, with a bottle of bubbly waiting on ice. When it comes to planning, “you have to be a little bit of a mind reader,” says the concierge, since he works with most clients by phone. “You also have to be discreet,” he adds.

When it’s time to pop the question, the sky is the limit – literally. Wright can arrange for you to propose while floating over the valley in a hot air balloon, following an indulgent breakfast. Or he can fly you to the coast by helicopter for a horseback ride on the beach and a picnic lunch.

Of course, that indelible moment can unfold right on the Solage property. Imagine having the gorgeous green expanse of the resort’s lawn all to yourselves for an intimate sunset dinner. Wright can also arrange an evening under the stars at the Bathhouse, Solage’s geothermal complex. The two of you will sip glasses of champagne and share a decadent dessert like Valrhona Chocolate Marquise, an ultra-rich mousse (one groom-to-be even had the staff place the engagement ring on the dessert plate). Picture a private cabana and the pool area illuminated only by flickering candles. “We’re memory creators,” says Solage’s Spa Manager, “and our success rate is 100 percent.”

Popping the question midair is an option

Needless to say, when Wright works his magic, the answer is always “Yes!” “It gives me a sense of joy when we pull off a perfect surprise,” he says. “I tell myself she would have said yes no matter where I asked her,” one fiancé remembers, “but our experiences at Solage made the proposal something we’ll never forget!”

“To see everything come together and to be part of it is truly rewarding,” Wright adds.
