Take the Stress Out of Travel Days

Jul 23, 2013

Can’t wait to get there, but dreading the “getting there” part? You’re not alone in wishing you could snap your fingers and be mid-massage, having room service in bed, or lounging poolside in the great escape you’ve been planning in your head for weeks. If some serious relaxation is what you’re after, make the transition as smooth as possible with these tips for de-stressing your airport experience:

1. Before you leave home, e-mail yourself your itinerary, as well as all confirmation e-mails for hotel, attraction, rental-car and other bookings

2. If you have a smartphone, add your destination’s weather to the weather app. The Weather Channel has a good free app!

3. Pack well in advance and  pack strategically so that airport essentials – a light sweater, healthy snacks, moisturizer, headphones, ear plugs perhaps? – are easy to find

4. Unburden your back and shoulders with good rolling luggage, also freeing up your hands to access key travel documents and peruse the magazine section

5. Drink ample water, especially if you’ve upped your caffeine intake, and pop some extra vitamin C for good measure

6. During the flight, get up and walk around once an hour – humans weren’t meant to stay in a sitting position for so long

Bon Voyage!
