Its no secret the best meals start with the best ingredients, and for Hacienda AltaGracia, we pride ourselves in the use of seasonal, local and natural. We have taken concept to the next level with the introduction of “La Huerta,” our very own organic farm. This 12 hectare portion of the hacienda will be cultivated with the finest fruits, herbs, produce, and is intended to supply most of our needs in the near future.

Eladio Soto, the same man who tendered the hacienda during AltaGracia’s days as a coffee plantation, has now focused his energy to cultivating only the best fruits and produce for one of the top Costa Rica resorts, AltaGracia.

Eladio and his team ensure that the farm will be yielding fruits, vegetables, and herbs to be harvested throughout the year giving the kitchen team at AltaGracia the freshest, local, seasonal produce for the dining room, assuring the finest culinary experiences for guests.

As a true organic farm, La Huerta strives for sustainabiltiy and enhancing soil fertility. As the seasons progress and La Huerta blooms, we will play our part in the larger community as the premier organic farm in Perez Zeledon, and encourage volunteers to work side-by-side with local farmers to learn the practices. Guests will also be encouraged to accompany the chefs to pick produce each morning for the days’ dishes and later in the year, cooking classes will be available for those budding chefs with a desire to cook Costa Rica style!
