Nanuku Auberge Resort wins "Travel Daily's 2019 Best Sustainable Tourism Initiative" award

Tuesday 30th April, Primus Hotel, Sydney. The inaugural Sustainability Summit saw the tourism industry gather to share best practices in travel to preserve the planet for future generations.

Hosted by Travel Daily key note speakers, panellists and general discussion covered important topics such as over-tourism, aviation and cruise sustainability, supply chains, plastics, animal protection, travelling with purpose and supporting local communities.

At the conclusion of the summit, guests gathered on the rooftop terrace for networking and the unveiling of the “Travel Daily 2019 Travel & Tourism Sustainability Awards”.

Nanuku Auberge Resort was awarded the “2019 Best Sustainable Travel or Tourism Initiative” for a land based supplier or hotel/resort; based on their commitment to improving marine ecosystems, reducing environmental footprint, community outreach, staff wellbeing and cultural appreciation.

General Manager Sascha Hemmann says, “Sustainability is deeply entrenched in the heart and soul of Nanuku; and the fundamental driver underpinning every decision and future initiative.”

“We focus not only on environmental conservation and improving our marine ecosystem, but also on preserving the rich Fijian folklore and time-honoured practices. Nanuku is operated by less than 2% expatriates, allowing the true ancestors of the land to share their heritage and culture with our guests.”

Our desire is for future generations to experience the same Fiji as we enjoy right now – a nation steeped in tradition and the happiest place on earth!”. Sascha adds.
