As the old adage remind us, “Tell me and I will forget, teach me and I will remember, involve me and I will learn”. Involving guests, particularly children, in customary rituals allows them to develop a more complex understanding of Fijian culture; as opposed to merely watching a choreographed traditional dance performance and forgetting it a week later.



Nanuku proudly extends its long list of children’s cultural activities to include a new, make-shift ‘Kids Kava’ experience. Incorporating all ancestral elements such as Fijian clothing and traditional dialogue, the ‘Kids Kava’ experience is as authentic as a customary adult ceremony – sans the Kava!

Anna Ratucoki, Nanuku’s Lailai Adventure Club Manager remarks, “We love watching our little Junior Warriors experiencing the new Kid’s Kava ceremony (with chocolate milk of course!). It’s the perfect addition to many Fijian activities we enjoy with the children including: traditional earth cooking, Meke dancing, flower basket weaving, evening torch lighting, story-telling, coconut husking, Lei making, Fijian language lessons, Fijian singing lessons, rice planting, bamboo raft building, plus many more.”
