Garden Gastronomy

Throughout the fall season, enjoy La Grande Dame champagne at Mayflower Inn & Spa along with a series of exclusive on-site experiences designed to bring the concept of Garden Gastronomy to life. Locally grown vegetables and herbs take center stage in these unique culinary experiences to complement the precise and delicate taste of the wine, inspired by experiences hosted at the Verzy vegetable garden at Maison Veuve Clicquot in France. Garden Gastronomy begins with a quest for excellence and a reverence for the beautifully natural taste of produce fresh from the garden. It is an invitation to cultivate our intuition, develop our senses and surprise our palate with an unexpected reversal: vegetables, herbs and fruits take the lead, while meat and fish become an accompaniment. Indulge in an ongoing program that brings unique culinary and beverage pairings directly to the table through vegetables and herbs sourced from local purveyors and from La Grande Dame Chef’s Garden, located on property.

La Grande Dame brings the flavors of Grand Crus grapes to each bottle, with fruit sourced from a 100-year-old countryside vineyard in the heart of Verzy, France. Tended by Veuve Clicquot winegrowers, it offers a testing ground of exploration and innovation, with more than 300 permaculture varieties used in the creation of food and champagne pairings for a new era. The experience and flavors seamlessly find a home in the Connecticut countryside with a rotation of seasonal vegetables grown in the La Grande Dame Chef's Garden, selected to pair masterfully with the champagne.
