Palette to Palate, Art Inspired Dinners at The Mayflower

Art, in all its forms, is a source of inspiration and a way to inspire conversation and connections. We're thrilled to bring a sampling of the various expressions of art to The Mayflower and marry them with the culinary arts, mastered so skillfully by Executive Chef, Lacey Lou Franklin. Join us for Palette to Palate as we explore the work of local artists, featuring them in a pop-up gallery in The Mayflower's lounge.

The Experience

Every first Tuesday of the month The Mayflower will host a local artist and showcase their work for a one-month pop-up in the Lounge. Guests can join us to view the featured artist's work, meet and mingle with the artist, connect with each other, and taste Chef Lacey's art. Chef will be creating a special menu for each pop-up that's intended to be enjoyed family-style and that will be inspired by the artist's work. Art can build and define community, we hope that these dinners are an opportunity for the community to share in the beauty of the art, expand their Pal(ette & ate), and connect with each other. The artwork will be available to view through the month.

  • "Gail Albert Halaban’s photographs peer through the windows of apartments and reveal the sometimes mundane, intimate, moments occurring in private life. Her urban exploration lies at the intersection of architectural photography and portraiture, presenting a holistic perspective of city life."
  • "The photographs in Italian Views —taken by Gail Albert Halaban through windows in Venice, Rome, Naples, Palermo, Florence, Lucca, and Milan—are certainly mysterious. To look at them is to participate in a solely visual treasure hunt. First find the windows. Then find the people. Then try, if you want, if you can, to figure out who the people are and what they are doing."

Notes from Chef Lacey:

Cioppino is a nod to the beautiful Italian architecture in Gail's photos, and it's a perfect meal to share with family and friends. It can get a little messy, but that's half the fun. It also originated in San Francisco, CA.
