Join us for Flavors of Malliouhana, a curated series of epicurean experiences celebrating our island’s rich gastronomic traditions. James Beard award-winning Chef Nina Compton, best known for her beloved New Orleans restaurants Compère Lapin and Bywater American Bistro, will collaborate with Malliouhana's Executive Chef Andrea Ferrandi in the second installment of the culinary series from July 22nd - August 19th. Kick-off the month-long collaboration from July 22nd - 24th with Chef Compton, as she hosts a weekend of immersive events and culinary experiences, followed by an exclusive selection of her signature dishes available at Celeste for the remainder of the collaboration.

Intimate Cooking Class & Lunch with Chef Compton | Saturday, July 23rd

On Saturday, take part in an ultra-exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cook with Chef Nina Compton. Join us for an intimate and interactive live cooking class, in which Chef Compton will teach you how to make her famed ricotta gnocchi with jerk summer corn and tomatoes - one of her signature dishes that pays homage to her Caribbean roots. Learn a recipe and cooking techniques from one of the world’s best chefs at our stunning ocean view restaurant, Celeste. Following the class, experience a group lunch where you can enjoy and Compton’s cuisine firsthand, along with specialty cocktails and wine, from a beautifully curated banquet table overlooking the Caribbean sea.

Enjoy Chef Compton’s signature brunch dishes infused with Caribbean flavors and ingredients, including buttermilk biscuits with whipped ricotta and mango jam, french toast with rum caramel, chantilly cream and mint, jerk pork hash with a sunny egg, as you listen to live music and take in breathtaking views of Meads Bay.

Meet Chef Nina Compton

Winner of the 2018 James Beard Awards “Best Chef: South”, Chef Nina Compton is the chef and owner of critically acclaimed New Orleans restaurants Compère Lapin and Bywater American Bistro. Born and raised on the island of St. Lucia, Chef Compton’s style of cooking celebrates the culinary harmonies between the cuisine of her island and that of France and Italy. In her collaboration with Malliouhana, Chef Compton, lauded as one of “16 Black Chefs Changing Food in America” in 2019 by the New York Times, and one of Food & Wine magazine’s “Best New Chefs 2017,” will host intimate cooking classes, special events, and curate limited-time menus for guests at the resort’s various dining venues.

CHEF JJ JOHNSON | MARCH 11 - APRIL 8, 2022

Flavors of Malliouhana launched on March 11th-13th, 2022 with James Beard Award winning chef, philanthropist, TV personality, and author, JJ Johnson. Over the course of the weekend three distinctive events were hosted by Chef JJ including a Rum and Recess Welcome Bonfire at Turtle Cove with a live fresh catch ceviche demonstration, with rum from Ten to One rum and wines from the McBride Sisters collection, a Beach Party at Leon’s with yakitori grilling, and a Soulful Southern Brunch at Celeste. Chef JJ's brought his signature cooking style which combines culturally relevant ingredients and classical technique with a global point of view, to seamlessly fuse with our island flavors and celebrated culinary team at Malliouhana for an unforgettable residency.

ABOUT FLAVORS OF MALLIOUHANA

Malliouhana placed Anguilla at the forefront of a global culinary discussion upon its opening in 1984, and today continues to entice a new generation of travelers to experience the wonders of the Caribbean food scene. Through a curated series of epicurean experiences throughout the year, guest Chefs will infuse their art of cooking with the enticing flavors of the Caribbean through culinary residencies, inviting guests to indulge in intimate cooking classes and special events benefiting our local Anguillian community designed to embolden and inspire. Flavors of Malliouhana commenced in March 2022 featuring Chef JJ Johnson, a James Beard award-winning chef, TV personality, author and philanthropist. Its second installment will feature the highly acclaimed James Beard Award-winning restaurateur and chef, Nina Compton.

Both scheduled and private charter flights are available from St. Maarten’s Princess Julianna International airport through Anguilla Air Services or Trans Anguilla Airways. Flying time is approximately 7 minutes, followed by a 20 minute drive to the resort.

Both scheduled and private charter flights are available from San Juan, Puerto Rico through Tradewind Aviation, Seaborne Airlines or Anguilla Air Services. Flying time to Anguilla’s Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport is approximately 1 hour, followed by a 20-minute drive to the resort.

Soulful Culinary Experiences

Each of the Flavors of Malliouhana guest chefs will work closely with Anguilla’s local purveyors to create new menu items exclusive to the intimate oceanfront resort and its culinary program. In addition, we are dedicated to the philanthropy of our greater Anguilla community, and a portion of our proceeds will go towards the non-profit, Anguilla Community Foundation.
