The Bathhouse at Calistoga Ranch Reinterprets Calistoga’s Classic Spa Tradition

  • CALISTOGA RANCH, CALIFORNIA (April 15, 2006) – “To float in mineral water that has gushed out of the ground is to be in intimate contact with the earth itself,” said a writer who visited the famed Calistoga Baths in Napa Valley many years ago. Taking the writer’s words to heart, Auberge Resorts opened a modern-day haven that captures the very essence of Calistoga with the creation of The Bathhouse, the spa centerpiece of Calistoga Ranch resort.
  • “When we designed The Bathhouse at Calistoga, we tried to respond to the place where the spa is,” said Tracy Herk, Director of Spa Development at Auberge Resorts. “We wanted to use rustic and native elements to create a spa that complemented and enhanced The Bathhouse’s Calistoga location and the resort itself.”
  • Situated on the banks of the spring-fed Lake Lommel, The Bathhouse showcases the natural beauty of the resort’s secluded canyon setting amid the Mayacama Mountains. Guests drink in views of the lake as they relax between treatments in a tranquility garden warmed, in the cooler months, by outdoor fireplaces.
  • Designed to pay tribute to Calistoga’s centuries-old legacy as a site for healing mineral waters, The Bathhouse features five private treatment cabins, each with a private garden, outdoor shower and a soaking tub. There is also a Healing Waters Soaking pool filled with mineral-rich curative waters tapped from the property’s own natural springs.
  • The Bathhouse treatments incorporate local Napa Valley ingredients, such as honey, wildflowers and grape seeds, to create a natural healing experience. The spa’s signature treatment, the Calistoga Cure, is a five-step therapy that will include an exfoliation with a mineral salt body scrub, a private outdoor mineral mud or immersion bath mud bath, a linen wrap, a balancing polarity session, and a full-body massage. Other signature treatments include:
    • Calistoga Ranch Mud Wrap – a eucalyptus mud body wrap using local volcanic mud and followed by a bay laurel massage to help boost immunity and soothe muscles;
    • Polarity Therapy – energy-point therapy to relieve stress and balance energy;
    • Oat and Brown Sugar Body Scrub – an oat and brown sugar body scrub followed by a buttermilk bath and walnut oil massage
