Experience Park City… All Without a Lift Ticket
Known for having “the greatest snow on earth”TM and as the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics, Park City, Utah, is a skier’s paradise with runs that welcome beginners and challenge experts. But if you’re looking for a different kind of adventure – or maybe even a way to just chill and still enjoy the snow – a Park City winter vacation still has a lot of experiences to offer, and you don’t even need a lift ticket to take advantage.
Nestled in between the Uintas and Wasatch Mountains, The Lodge at Blue Sky Park City resort offers experiences ranging from heli-skiing excursions to uncharted territory perfect for thrill-seeking, off-trail skiing to serene landscapes where outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy quiet solitude.
You’re one of the first to cast your line into the untouched waters in the deep back country as your guide leads your group on a private fishing expedition, educating you on everything from knots and fly selection to casting techniques and the varieties of trout you’ll discover during your excursion. A mid-day break offers a delicious chef-prepared lunch and spectacular views of the rugged Uintas Mountains. The rest of the day continues your guided adventure as you encounter miles of the purest lakes, streams and ponds where you’re able to enjoy fly fishing as it’s intended – in deep, quiet stillness.
Winter Sporting Clays
The crackling fire and hot drinks warm you as your competitive spirit comes alive. Located in a secluded, covered spot on The Lodge at Blue Sky’s 3,500 acres of ranch land, the resort’s five-stand clay shooting course challenges you and your friends to an afternoon of exhilarating sporting. Experienced instructors kick off with the fundamentals, and the crisp winter air electrifies your group’s friendly competitive spirit – practice shooting followed by flurries of biodegradable clay targets that represent some of Utah’s most prevalent live quarry.
Snowshoeing and Yoga
Feeling invigorated, you snowshoe deep into the pristine, open clearings that offer snow-capped views of the nearby Wasatch Mountains. Your adventure takes you on a trek to a high-altitude meadow where a yurt heated by a roaring fire and homemade hot cocoa welcome you. Kicking off your yoga session with a sun salutation, your guide invites you to breathe deeply while leading you through restorative poses that clear your mind, warm your soul and allow you to become focused on the striking beauty of the wilderness that surrounds you.
