When the bounty is starting to overwhelm, and yet the end of the season is in sight. Farmers turn to their kitchens to preserve the harvest well into the winter. Learn the art of pickling and canning at this interactive and immersive workshop. Learn about the vegetables in season with a tour through the farm’s fields and greenhouse. Participate in harvesting appropriate vegetables for pickling and prepare them for their life in a pickling jar. Use spices from the farm and off site to create a unique and intriguing pickling spice mix. Use a quick pickling method to preserve fresh vegetables from the farm, while also learning about long heat bath pickling, canning, and jam making. Guests will take their pickled vegetables with them.
