Eat Farm-to-Table Aphrodisiac
Did you know there’s a meal at Hacienda AltaGracia that could protect you against snake bites and evil spirits? That’s exactly what indigenous communities believe of achiote, a tropical shrub with tiny seeds rumored to be an aphrodisiac. Sourcing the spice from Hacienda Altagracia’s 30-acre organic garden, La Huerta, I use this aphrodisiac like a Latin American saffron. Thanks to its vibrant color and peppery taste, the spice creates striking dishes packed with immense flavor like our Caribbean Seafood Rondon Stew at Ambar. As for the other benefits of achiote, all I know is that many guests do order the stew again the next night.
