Auberge Resorts Collection to Manage Luxury Hotel and Residence Project In Idaho’s Fabled Sun Valley Resort

MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (August 13, 2014) – Auberge Resorts Collection, award-winning owner and operator of boutique luxury hotels, resorts, residences and private clubs, today announced that it has signed a deal to operate a planned boutique luxury hotel and penthouse residential development in historic downtown Ketchum, Idaho, the commercial and cultural heart of the legendary Sun Valley Resort. The first new lodging project to be built in the region since the early 1990s, it will be the first ultra-luxury property in greater Sun Valley, America’s original mountain resort.

The 155,000-square-foot mixed-use project will comprise 62 hotel rooms and 14 residences, a full-service restaurant and bar, spa and fitness facilities and technology-driven meeting and conference space, in addition to other amenities. The hotel’s project owner and sponsor, Trail Creek Fund, LLC, is led by Ketchum-based Managing Member Jack Bariteau, developer behind prominent residential and mixed-use real estate projects in Ketchum, including The Shops and Residences at the Colonnade, The Christiania Building and 600 Second Street East.

“Sun Valley has the enviable legacy of being the first winter destination resort in America, and it has a rich history as a magnet for residents and affluent guests from both coasts,” said Craig Reid, CEO, Auberge Resorts Collection. “It’s a vibrant year-round destination that has been under-serviced by the luxury hotel market. We believe that Sun Valley is a perfect destination for the Auberge brand, with its focus on crafted luxury, engaging guest experiences and unique adventure programs.”

“My family has a long history of visiting Sun Valley, and I have a deep appreciation for its scenic beauty and character,” said Mark Harmon, Founder and Managing Partner, Auberge Resorts. “I couldn’t be more delighted with this opportunity to help create a resort that will showcase the personality of Sun Valley and introduce this special place to new generations of families.”

“This is a momentous announcement for the Sun Valley marketplace and a mutual long-term commitment to excellence,” said Bariteau. “Our affiliation with Auberge Resorts will have an enormously positive game-changing impact on Sun Valley. While we considered many four- and five-star hotel operators for this project, Auberge’s reputation for creating exceptional luxury hotels is unmatched in the industry, and it’s especially meaningful that the team has a personal connection to Sun Valley. We’re confident that this project will further support Sun Valley’s reputation as an iconic all-seasons American resort destination. The Auberge commitment, following on the heels of new regional non-stop service on Delta from Salt Lake City and on United from San Francisco and Denver directly into the Sun Valley Airport, provides unparalleled ease of access to both coasts. There are now more than 30,000 new seats annually, with more to come.”

Located in a historically significant neighborhood at the gateway entrance to downtown Ketchum, the hotel is conveniently located within easy walking distance to the town’s diverse attractions, advanced high-speed lift and gondola access to Bald Mountain. Guest rooms will offer unparalleled views of the mountain’s east-facing ski runs and Sun Valley’s unique topography. Hotel amenities will include a lively casual bar and grill, extensive fitness amenities, heated outdoor swimming pool and sun terrace, full-service spa and meeting facilities. Fourteen for-purchase luxury residences on the hotel’s upper floors, including six fourth-floor penthouses, will offer direct unobstructed views to the top of Bald and Dollar Mountains. Ranging from 1,750 square feet to 2,400 square feet in a single-level plan, the residences will be accessible by private elevator with exclusive two-car underground parking and storage and will offer full access to Auberge hotel services and amenities. The hotel, fully entitled by the City of Ketchum, has been designed by the renowned San Francisco-based hospitality architectural firm Hornberger + Worstell, AIA.

First developed in 1936, Sun Valley was the vision of W. Averell Harriman, then CEO of the Union Pacific Railroad, who sought to create an American version of the popular ski resorts in Switzerland and Austria. Following a nationwide search, Harriman selected Ketchum, Idaho, over locations in California, Utah and Colorado because of its accessible base elevation under

6,000 feet, exceptional natural terrain and snow conditions, year-round recreational activities, natural beauty and endless sun. Dubbed the “first instant million-dollar resort,” Sun Valley redefined skiing as resort recreation and introduced the concept of the ski resort as a social, four-season leisure destination. Ernest Hemingway and other noteworthy residents put Sun Valley on the map as a residential enclave for the rich and famous. Sun Valley’s rediscovery is underway, and it is rapidly becoming more accessible thanks to new direct non-stop regional air service from major metropolitan hubs. Home to a new Olympic and Paralympic training site, Sun Valley is scheduled to host the Alpine Ski Championships in 2016 and 2018.

The project is scheduled to break ground in late Spring, 2015 and welcome its first guests in the summer of 2017. Construction employment is anticipated to generate 100 full-time worker positions in the building cycle and upwards of 80 hotel jobs once opened. For more information on penthouse sales and residence sales , please contact Jack Bariteau at jack@waypointsunvalley.com or call (650) 906-5636.  For information or inquires concerning investment opportunities in Trail Creek Fund, please contact Garrison Belles at garrison@waypointsunvalley.com or (415) 637-1991.

Introducing VieVage: Auberge Resorts to debut new
hospitality brand in Napa Valley

MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (June 12, 2014) – Auberge Resorts, award-winning owner and operator of world-class luxury boutique hotels, resorts, residences and private clubs, today announced that it will manage a new resort and destination spa that will be developed on the site of the former Stanly Ranch in the Carneros district of Napa Valley. The project will be developed by Stanly Ranch Resort Napa, LLC. The 110-room resort, VieVage Napa Valley, will be the first developed under a new lifestyle hospitality brand and infused with the Auberge ethos. Created by the team behind some of North America’s most highly regarded resorts, the new VieVage concept will bring contemporary themes of design, community, locally sourced food, sustainability, fitness and wellness together in a fresh, active and social environment.

Just as Auberge Resorts redefined Napa Valley as a destination for leisure travelers with the launch of Auberge du Soleil, the region’s first five-star hotel, reinterpreted the beach and spa resort with Esperanza in Los Cabos, Mexico, reinvented the cabin-in-the-woods concept with Calistoga Ranch, introduced sustainability and Michelin-starred casual dining to Napa Valley with Solage Calistoga, and breathed new life into Aspen’s historic Hotel Jerome, the company will redefine the concept of the 21st century resort and the “New Napa” with the VieVage brand.

“Travelers today are seeking an experience that is creatively designed yet simple; relaxing yet social; regional yet timeless,” said Craig Reid, Chief Executive Officer, Auberge Resorts. “With VieVage, we will build on the successes of Auberge Resorts’ other unique hotels, resorts and residences to offer a product that is fresh and appealing for a broad variety of guests and a hospitality model that works in a variety of settings. It will be adaptable to resort and urban locations and residences, and it will complement our current hotels in select markets. We’re delighted to introduce both a new brand and a new chapter for Auberge Resorts.”

VieVage Napa Valley will be developed on 95 acres of the 712-acre Stanly Ranch, a historic and beloved piece of the California wine country. Bordered by vineyards, rolling hills and views of the Mayacamas Mountains, the resort will be characterized by contemporary cottage-style accommodations and an activated central “commons” featuring a casual restaurant and bar, a bakery, winery and outdoor gathering spaces that bring guests together around fire pits, barbeques, bocce and outdoor concerts. Clustered guest rooms will accommodate families and groups with private communal space, vineyards, gardens and bicycle and walking paths.

Shaped by its Napa Valley setting, the resort will have an overarching agricultural theme expressed through gardens and orchards, contemporary architecture inspired by the valley’s early farmstead buildings, environmentally minded infrastructure and engaging programs that invite guest participation in the cultivation and celebration of food and wine. An on-site winery will make the most of the Carneros district’s moderate climate and cool breezes that contribute to the regions acclaimed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varietals.

“I am excited by this new concept and what it will bring not only to Napa Valley, but also to the hotel industry,” said Mark Harmon, Founder and Managing Partner, Auberge Resorts. “VieVage will bring together the best of what we do with a beautiful simplicity and understated luxury. This concept will be social, fun, approachable, and it will celebrate the romance of connecting with family and friends. We have brought together an amazing team of partners to help us realize our vision. We look forward to introducing Auberge hospitality to a new generation of guests.”

The project is expected to break ground in early 2015 open in 2017.

Kris Margerum, Wine Director for Auberge du Soleil, will pair wines from both regions for an elegant, five-course dinner featuring amuse bouche, a comfit-spiced pumpkin with duck liver emulsion, and spiced lamb saddle cooked with orange reduction, organic carrot and cumin puree. Michelin-starred Executive Chef Robert Curry and Palais Namaskar Chef Antoine Perry will prepare the unique menu, bringing the unique ingredients from Morocco to Northern California.

Day Two features an interactive cooking experience focusing on the Art of the Tagine with Chef Perray and Solage Calistoga Executive Chef Brandon Sharp, followed by a tasting presentation highlighting Moroccan wines. Guests will create their own tagine of marinated wild sea bass, chermoula and spring vegetables, to be finished by the culinary team and served for dinner in the Michelin-starred Solbar. Didier Pariente of Nomadic Distribution, an importer of Moroccan wines, will lead guests through a wine presentation and portfolio tasting of one of Morocco’s oldest and most awarded wineries, Domaine Ouled Thaleb, featuring selections of whites, rosés, and reds available in the U.S. Guests will receive their tagine, valued at $50, to take home, compliments of Le Creuset, along with a wine gift bag compliments of Domaine Ouled Thaleb. Didier Pariente of Nomadic Distribution will present Moroccan wines and give an overview of the viticultural history of the region, and guests will receive a gift bag including educational materials about Moroccan food and wine.

The final evening is the gala dinner mimicking an evening in Morocco in the Wine Cave at Calistoga Ranch, which will be transformed into a Moroccan tent complete with belly dancers, indigenous spices, argan oil and fresh vegetables from the area.  All four chefs will prepare dishes indigenous to Morocco and California such as chachouka, zaalouk, cheese and truffle briouat, orange blossom cucumber, cinnamon comfit tomatoes, and tafernout bread.

Complementing the culinary experiences, guests will have the opportunity to participate in other Moroccan themed activities at all three properties. Calistoga Ranch will offer belly dancing lessons on Saturday, March 15th. The property is also offering a six-step Moroccan Hammam Treatment in the Auberge Spa at Calistoga Ranch, beginning with a steam bath followed by the application of savon noir, a Moroccan natural black soap. After a head-to-toe exfoliation, a Moroccan Rhassoul clay mask will be applied along with natural rose water. A massage using Baladi soap with a dose of authentic Argan oil followed by a Moroccan tea experience on the relaxation deck concludes the experience. All guests staying at Calistoga Ranch will be given a departure gift of Moroccan salt scrub and a certificate to be used toward a future stay.

Auberge Resorts Voted Among the Best in the U.S. and Mexico by U.S. News & World Report

MILL VALLEY, Calif. (January 28, 2014) – Auberge Resorts properties have been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as among the very best in the U.S. and Mexico, the magazine announced today. Auberge du Soleil, Calistoga Ranch, Hotel Jerome, The Inn at Palmetto Bluff and Esperanza all received top rankings in the 2014 Best Hotels Awards. Solage Calistoga was voted one of the top 10 resorts in Napa Valley. Rankings are available online at http://travel.usnews.com/.

The 2014 Best Hotels Awards recognize hotels that were ranked based on an unbiased methodology that includes the collective opinion of travel experts and guests, expressed through online reviews and ratings.

“We are delighted that independently surveyed travelers and experts in the travel industry rated our resorts among the very best in their respective destinations,” said Mark Harmon, Managing Partner, Auberge Resorts. “Our goal is to deliver the best guest experience possible. It’s gratifying to see our properties once again rated the best in North America.”

“The 2014 Best Hotels were selected because they meet the highest standards of travel experts and guests alike,” said Miriam Weiner, travel editor for U.S. News. “These properties are renowned in the travel industry for their luxury amenities and quality customer service.”
To create this year’s rankings, U.S. News factored in the prominence of industry awards a hotel receives along with its reputation among travel experts and guests. In total, 1,693 U.S. hotels, 271 Caribbean hotels, 342 Mexican hotels and 223 Canadian hotels were evaluated for the 2014 rankings.

Hotels named “Best” in their destination are typically the properties that have ranked the top 30 percent of U.S. News-evaluated properties in that region. A smaller, more selective group of hotels that are ranked in the top 10 percent of all ranked luxury hotels in the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico or Canada received a “Best Hotels in the USA,” “Best Hotels in the Caribbean,” “Best Hotels in Mexico” or “Best Hotels in Canada” award, depending on their location.

The full hotel rankings methodology may be found online at: http://travel.usnews.com/methodology/.

Festive holiday cocktails: Auberge Resorts toasts to the New Year

Celebratory Libations Showcase Each Resort’s Sense of Place

MILL VALLEY, CALIF (December 16, 2013)Auberge Resorts, owners and operators of celebrated boutique luxury resorts and clubs in North America, will toast the holidays with an assortment of festive libations that showcase the tastes of each resort’s destination. The company, which got its start in the famed wine region of Napa Valley, has always made unique beverage programs a priority in addition to award-winning wine lists. The creative minds behind the bars at Auberge Resorts have shared their favorite libations to celebrate the holiday season.

    MEXICO

Esperanza Resort suggests their Cabo Green Margarita (silver tequila, pineapple juice, cucumber, agave honey, cilantro, lime), the Mojito Diablo (rum, cassis, lime, mint, raw sugar) or the Illusion Margarita (rested tequila, basil, cranberry juice, cassis), to celebrate the holidays.

“If you can’t be in Cabo San Lucas to toast the New Year with us, you can’t go wrong serving tequila at a New Year’s Eve party,” said Diego Weiss, Director of Food & Beverage at Esperanza.

    NAPA VALLEY

Solage Calistoga’s Sommelier & Beverage Manager, Scott Turnbull, created the newly added libation, Five O’Clock Shadow, noting, “The pomegranate vodka adds a seasonal, festive kick to holiday cocktail parties.” To make a Five O’Clock Shadow, mix Charbay pomegranate vodka, honey rosemary syrup, bitters, and egg whites.

The Soleil Rey is a crowd-pleaser at Auberge du Soleil, made with Charbay Pomegranate Vodka, Unoaked Sauvignon Blanc, aperol, simple syrup, grapes and mint leaves. “’For me, this cocktail is the essential Napa Valley cocktail.  It is light and refreshing and brings the elements of grapes to the glass. It represents the warm colors of autumn and is the perfect accompaniment for a brisk fall day,” said Kris Margerum, Wine Director.

Calistoga Ranch’s private label Cabernet is a crowd favorite, and pairs well with a variety of foods, from salads, to chicken, to red meat,” says the property’s resident winemaker, Kirk Venge. “For dessert, we love to pair the 2009 Robert Pecota Moscato D’Andrea with decadent sweets such as sorbets and ice creams,” says Christian Ojeda, Executive Chef at Calistoga Ranch.

    ASPEN

Newly reopened following a top-to-bottom makeover, Aspen’s Hotel Jerome, an Auberge Resort, recommends the “Gingerbread Gibson” to toast the holidays. “In addition to our classic and crafted cocktails, we are also featuring some drinks specifically for the holidays, namely our “Gingerbread Gibson” – a rum, molasses, pear and ginger cocktail, served up with wine poached pear “onion” garnish… A perfect libation to get you in the holiday spirit!” said Christel Stiver, Living Room Manager and Sommelier at Hotel Jerome. “We’re also proud to offer the best Hot Toddy in Colorado, making its debut on our winter cocktail menu.”

MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (September 2013)Auberge Resorts properties are the choice of Andrew Harper’s Hideaway readers, according to the publication’s newly released 2013 Reader Survey, which showcases subscribers’ favorite hotels and resorts worldwide. Five resorts in the Auberge collection were among an elite group of properties recognized as among the very best in their categories.

The results are based on the annual independent reader survey in which Andrew Harper’s discerning subscribers vote for their favorite hotels and resorts in the categories of Beach, City, U.S. Hideaways, International Hideaways, Food and Wine, Spa, Golf, Safari and Family-Friendly. This year, 136 hotels in 115 destinations appear on the lists, which are featured in the September digital edition of Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report.

Auberge’s Napa Valley flagship Auberge du Soleil was voted No. 5 on the list of 20 Top U.S. Hideaways. All three Napa Valley resorts, Auberge du Soleil, Calistoga Ranch and Solage Calistoga, were ranked among the Top 20 Food and Wine Resorts worldwide.

It’s inspiring to know that this audience values our resorts so highly.”

Hideaway Report readers are very loyal to their favorite hotels … but they are also keen to experiment and to be adventurous,” said Andrew Harper. “Much of the pleasure I derive from editing The Hideaway Report stems from the awareness that my readers are active travelers with both the inclination and the financial means to follow in my footsteps.”

AJ Capital Partners and Auberge Resorts names design dream team for the transformation
of Anguilla’s Malliouhana Hotel & Spa

MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (September 2013)Auberge Resorts, leading developers and operators of exceptional hotels and resorts, and owner Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners (AJ Capital Partners) today announced plans for its redesign of Malliouhana, an Auberge Resort on the Island of Anguilla, British West Indies. The 55-room hotel, perched atop a panoramic bluff overlooking Meads Bay and Turtle Bay, will undergo a comprehensive revitalization, which is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2014.

Auberge Resorts has selected interior designer Todd-Avery Lenahan of TAL Studio to lead the redesign of all guest rooms, restaurants and public spaces. Lenahan masterminded the recent top-to-bottom transformation of Hotel Jerome, an Auberge Resort in Aspen, which was completed in December 2012. SB Architects, which counts the recent transformation of Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico among its many award-winning projects, will spearhead the architectural enhancements at the now 30-year-old Malliouhana.

“TAL Studio and SB Architects were the clear choices for the Malliouhana’s transformation,” said Mark Harmon, CEO, Auberge Resorts. “Both firms have an incredible body of work that speaks to their talent at bringing the spirit of a destination to life. We’re excited about their creative vision for the Malliouhana, whose legacy of gracious hospitality is in a league of its own in the Caribbean.”

Interior designer Todd-Avery Lenahan cites the photography of Slim Aarons, a chronicler of the rich and celebrated, as a source of inspiration for his re-envisioning of the Malliouhana. His plans call for maximizing the resort’s open-air design to create a relaxed atmosphere infused with exuberant colors, evoking the spirit of Anguilla during the Caribbean’s glamorous heyday of the 1950s and 1960s. His team is resurrecting historic elements of the origins of the island to infuse the design concept with a uniquely Anguillan feel.

“The Malliouhana is beloved by two generations of guests, so we are doing some storytelling through the design to bring back that energy for the next generation of discerning travelers,” said Lenahan. “We dialed in the spirit of how people in the ‘50s and ‘60s traveled – yachts, fine linens, exotic wonderment – and translated that notion into a very collected and international feel.”

Original paintings of animated tropical scenes that have withstood the test of time in the hotel’s lobby captured the interest of Lenahan and his team. Commissioned for the original Malliouhana, the pieces were rediscovered by the designers, who traced their provenance to a noted local artist and are now weaving the images into to the current design theme of each guest room.

Etched into each guestroom’s polished white floors are three interlocking porpoises, a nod to the symbol on the national flag of Anguilla. Lenahan celebrated the island’s love of exuberant colors as a basis for the guestrooms, which are an encapsulation of an artistic spectrum. Leading galleries on the West Coast were sources for key pieces, which will complement the resort’s collection of restored vintage rattan.

“We infused spaces with a rich palette – it’s an urbane take of what the Caribbean is,” said Lenahan. “We wanted to create something specific to this island – not just another swanky beach hotel, but something with depth and beauty that is unique to the destination.”

SB Architects’ structural enhancements to the Malliouhana will visually strengthen the hotel’s connection to the sea by opening up views, replacing formerly limiting architectural forms with new ones and creating engaging new public spaces. These will include a new open-air restaurant and bar, a tiered swimming pool area with a strong connection to the topography, and a sunset bar. The architects are also designing an entirely new spa that will offer an intimate experience that will be consistent with Auberge’s reputation for innovative and exquisite small spa environments.

The hotel’s signature white buildings, tile roofs, and slender Moorish arches will be incorporated into the new vision. “We’re being respectful of the hotel’s history by not doing too much. We will remove certain architectural elements that formerly stood between guests and the hotel’s spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea,” said Scott Lee, President and Principal, SB Architects. “Now, there will be a more pure connection to the water. We are also enhancing the arrival experience by circulating guests though mature landscape. The connection to land and sea will begin from the moment of arrival.”

The Malliouhana is set on 20 acres of prime beachfront land that includes two private white-sand beaches. Accommodations range from spacious guest rooms, the smallest of which offers more than 700 square feet of space, to private beachfront villas. Resort amenities will include two restaurants and bars, an Auberge Spa and an extensive array of sports and fitness facilities.

Auberge Resorts introduces exclusive partnership with Marie Veronique Organics skincare

Anti-Aging Facials Using Potent All-Natural Marine Ingredients to be featured exclusively at Auberge Spas

MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (April 22, 2013) – Auberge Resorts, developer and operator of award-winning resorts and spas, today announced today a new, exclusive U.S. partnership with Marie Veronique Organics, the award-winning boutique skincare brand renowned for its 100 percent natural and organic ingredients. Auberge spas will be the only spas in the United States to offer facials custom-designed to feature the brand’s new high-performance Pacific line of luxury, marine-based skincare.

“The Pacific line partnership with Marie Veronique Organics emphasizes our commitment to organic skincare, health and wellness,” said Mark Harmon, CEO, Auberge Resorts. “We are delighted to be the first U.S. spas to introduce the highly effective Pacific products and two facials custom-designed for Auberge spa guests.”

Made from the most potent ingredients found in the Pacific Ocean, the Pacific line of skincare addresses the causes of aging from the inside out.  Pacific products deliver the nutritive benefits of natural marine extracts with none of the petroleum-based ingredients or heavy preservatives found in many luxury skincare products. Dr. Eric Lewis, a prominent Beverly Hills dermatologist, discovered the CMBI Natural Marine Extract™, an active compound found in the sea that is the essential ingredient in Pacific’s Topical Marine Treatment. Clinical studies have shown the serum actually reverses the skin’s aging process by increasing the number of fibrocytes in the skin, stimulating blood vessel formation and increasing the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.

Auberge’s new Anti-Aging Facial uses active organic ingredients rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids to tone and firm the skin, minimize lines and create a visible lift.

The Brightening and Lightening Facial delivers significant complexion-enhancing benefits. Vitamin C, combined with powerful anti-oxidants, increase collagen and repair sun damage and age spots, resulting in a bright, luminous complexion. Both treatments will be introduced at Auberge and Solage spas beginning in April. Prices start at $135 for 50 minutes and $198 for 80 minutes.

A cult favorite in Northern California, Marie Veronique Organics is a super-premium line of organic skincare products formulated by Marie Veronique Nadeau, an expert esthetician and former chemistry teacher, along with her physicist daughter, Dr. Jay Nadeau, to combine scientific research with “intelligent” ingredients that counter the effects of aging. Mill Valley,

Calif.-based Marie Veronique Organics products contain organic, locally sourced, and fair trade ingredients whenever possible, and — most importantly — every ingredient is proven safe and highly effective.

Shades of green at Auberge Resorts during “Earth Month”

Festivities Begin with Earth Hour Celebrations on March 23

MILL VALLEY, CALIF (March 4, 2013) – Auberge Resorts has announced environmentally focused offerings at each of its luxury resorts across North America that will encourage guests to share in the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. Each property is introducing a new collection of “Earth Month” guest experiences kicking off during Earth Hour on March 23 and available throughout the month of April.

“Environmental preservation is intrinsic to the Auberge Resorts brand; our mission is to preserve the essence of place in each resort location and allow our guests to experience that cultural and environmental connection at each destination,” said Mark Harmon, CEO, Auberge Resorts. “We’ve created a variety of unique ways to showcase this commitment to our guests, who appreciate our continued concentration on sustainability.”

Each resort willrecognize Earth Hour on March 23, 2013, and support the world’s largest environmental event in history between 8:30-9:30 p.m., where millions of people will turn off the lights within their time zone for Earth Hour in observance of the effects of climate change. Auberge Resorts will set the mood with candlelight massages, candlelight happy hours and fireside turndown experiences, in addition to other unique programming lit solely by flickering candles and the stars above.

A sampling of additional April Earth Month activities at each Auberge resort includes:

    •  Seed Giveaway and Juicing/Raw Foods Classes at Solage Calistoga (Napa Valley, Calif.): Throughout the month of April, guests will have the opportunity to take a little Earth Month home. Complimentary classes on juicing and raw foods will be offered, and guests will receive a variety of seeds upon checkout.
    •  “Off the Grid” Menu at Pronghorn (Bend, Ore.): Pronghorn’s Cascada restaurant will serve a special Earth Hour menu “Off the Grid” where the culinary team will be cooking off the barbeque grid instead of cooking in the kitchens on March 23 at 8:30PM. From March 23 – April 23, guests may enjoy an earth-themed cocktail at Cascada as a toast to the second-largest juniper forest in the world that surrounds the resort. Also during that time, golfers will be given bio-degradable golf tees instead of wooden and plastic tees.
    • Earth Day Spa Treatments and Classes at Auberge du Soleil (Napa Valley, Calif.): Complimentary 60-minute Elemental Yoga classes are offered throughout the month of April, where guests may experience a guided yoga practice that explores the five key elements of earth, water, fire, air and ether. All massages booked in the spa during the evening hours of April will come with the option for massage by candelight; the massage room will be illuminated by candle light only. Also available during the month of April, guests may “stay grounded” to Mother Earth by adding a Fango Mud Bath to any massage service at a discounted rate.
    • Wine Cave Movie Screening at Calistoga Ranch (Napa Valley, Calif.): On April 22, Calistoga Ranch invites guests to their Wine Cave, an exquisite space deep within the hillside, for a screening of “Disneynature: Earth”, a family-friendly documentary starring some of the most magnificent creatures alive. Throughout Earth Month, guests will receive a departure gift of a local olive tree sapling to bring Mother Nature home with them.
    • Lights Out Dining at Hotel Jerome (Aspen, Colo.): The newly unveiled restaurant, Prospect, will feature “lights out dining” for breakfast and lunch during the month of April. Guests will also have an option to donate to the National Forest Foundation at check-in.
    • Candlelight Yoga at Esperanza (Cabo San Lucas, Mexico): Guest yoga instructor, Kari Ament of Core Power Yoga Minneapolis, will be at Esperanza for a candlelight yoga class during Earth Hour on March 23. Other activities will include outdoor astronomy lessons and organic tours offered during the month of April.

All properties are required to track their energy consumption, waste, and water consumption and submit standardized reports in the middle and at the end of each year. Auberge Resorts has implemented a Planet Auberge Report Card that includes the categories described above, in addition to property audits, creative initiatives and execution of the minimum standards (of which there are more than 50) that are agreed up on each year. The Green Spa Network awarded the company’s efforts this year with the “Corporate Sustainability Leadership Award”.

Auberge Resorts rolls out in-room technology capability

In-Room iPads Enhance Guest Experience, Optimize Efficiency

MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (March 4, 2013) – Auberge Resorts announced today that it is integrating iPad guest services at each of its resorts throughout North America. The new in-room technology will allow guests a range of on- and off- property functionalities, complemented by personal detail and attention from resort staff. Guests may pre-order room service, shop for spa products, make dining reservations, schedule wake-up calls, send e-post-cards and much more without ever having to pick up the phone or leave the comfort of their room.

“We want to provide the most seamless guest experience possible, and living in such a digital world, our decision to move forward with in-room iPads was an easy one,” said Mark Harmon, CEO of Auberge Resorts. “Guests can manage all facets of their stay with the touch of their fingertips and still benefit from the signature Auberge level of service.”

Auberge Resorts tapped Incentient, a New York based software company, to create a digital extension of the Auberge Resorts service experience to allow guests to perform many actions with one less step.

“While the hospitality industry has embraced the use of tablet technology on a case-by-case basis, Auberge had much more in mind for their guest on an enterprise level,” said Jennifer Martucci, Co-founder of Incentient. “It was clear to us from day one that they understood their brand, and more importantly, understood their customer. What resulted was a bespoke design that captures the imagination of guests while extending the Auberge experience, which brought the guest to the property in the first place.”

The platform for the iPads is consistent across all Auberge properties and features categories such as Dining, Auberge Spa, and Events. Additionally, guests may enjoy the benefits of Incentient Smartcellar, an application that allows guests to view the wine and beverage list from each of the resort’s fine dining restaurants. Individual resorts are able to customize messaging and add relevant categories to their particular markets. For example, the in-room iPads at the newly unveiled Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colo. offer information pertaining to mountain sports – ski rentals, snow conditions and maps of hiking trails. The iPads at Calistoga Ranch in Napa Valley allow guests to explore the area’s wineries and vineyards or peruse the property’s real estate offerings. In-room iPads are also proving highly beneficial for groups in house, as messaging can be tailored to communicate selectively to individual guests with meetings and event-related updates.

“It’s really a win-win for everyone,” said Mark Harmon. “Guests enjoy the privacy and convenience provided by the iPads; they’re able to connect immediately and are given status updates on items such as room service preparation and delivery. On the property level, we’re able to engage with our guests in a way that we’ve never been able to before. We can customize banner messages, alerting guests of daily promotions, and even offer added values like exclusive access with some of our local partners.”

The company, acclaimed for its sustainability practices, will cut down on in-room dining service menu compendiums and door hangers as well as newspaper delivery for guests who prefer to receive them via the iPad.
